ok, my friend gifted Mass Effect 1 on steam to me, i played it made a character, accidently deleted her so i tried to make a new one, but no matter what i do i can't "Finalize" any face i make. i mouse over the button, click it and the game just loads the specific slider i was using to costomize the face a bit before hand (ie the facial structure line is highlighted and i hit finalize and the sliders for the facial structure line pops up and it won't finalize). it's been going on for like a week now. i've gone on steam, defraged it,  i have verified the integrity of my game cashe. looked around for any updates found none. im at a loss, i just want to play the game with a face i made instead of a preset. (if i set the highlight over "cycle presets" and hit finalize, it finalizes and i can play but it deleted my face and gives me a preset every time) (i cannot highlight the finalize botton with my arrow keys like with the Xbox 360 version of the game)

this happens with all character models and everything else. can anybody help me? this is driving me bonkers.

The only time Ive heard of this happening, is when the game isnt running in the right resolution and aspect ratio.
Do a search for masseffectconfig.exe, run it, and make sure your video settings are correct.
