Thoughts on Mass Effect film?

Just because previous VG movies have been bad (the previous VG movies made have all been terrible choices in terms of lack of a proper story e.g Super Mario Bros & Street Fighter ) that doesn't mean that Mass Effect will be bad.

I get what you are saying but the problem is not the universe around which games are created (maybe for mario though) but it is the lack of a good script and director. I also think the fact people probably don't take the idea of a videogame movie seriously plays in as well.

And the ME movie will be a money grab, and it galls me to say it. Signs are all there, all info that's been released has been bad.

The movie is not even close to being finished, how could there be a lot of information.

Sure those were bad but you have to take into account the fact that Mass Effect has lore like Star Wars and can be made into a good movie if done well. The other fail because thae are so limited and most don't have lore that goes further than the game itself.

Well, I wouldn't call the Silent Hill adaption "bad". It was decent and if the director wasn't a sexist it could have been good. :)

If they're doing a whole new story, what's the point? Faithful adaptations to books are done all the time, why can't we finally ever get a faithful adaptation to a VG? Does anyone want to see Commander Shepard NOT come in contact with the Prothean Beacon? NOT recruit Garrus, Ash, Talk, Wrex or Liara? NOT be in a race against time to stop Saren and Soverign?

If it's "a completely new story", why even call it Mass Effect? IT HAS A STORY.

True, but that is mostly because most movies these days are so uninspired and are sloppily stiched together. ME has potential, all that needs to be done is for the director to tap into it.

It is a "completely new story." It also is "focused around Shepard."

Faith in a producer to create a good movie goes out the window when those kinds of statements are made in combination.

However, the director is looking to make a quick buck and willing to murder the hell out of the series to do so.

Umm ok so this also says that Shepard will be in the movie. Unless you play female Shepard only and feel that because it won't be a female Shepard it's not Shepard.
