I'm fine with the movie as long as the Shepard they portray doesn't affect future games.

There is no Shepard in the ME movie.

It is a "completely new story." It also is "focused around Shepard."

Faith in a producer to create a good movie goes out the window when those kinds of statements are made in combination.

Great, you've ruined my interest in the movie.
Using Shepard is a terrible Idea! People have preconceived notions of what Shepard is like, including sex, allignment, and cannon choices. I used to have faith in Hollywood, not a lot, but now it's all gone.

The movie will suck, and not just because it's based on a video game. It is because all movies these days suck, so I don't really care either way.

only thing to add is,no matter how good the CGI and historic lingo and dots connecting,it will be less then The movie Thor

Weird glitch happened
disreguard

Edit: might as well use it

I hope that at that point that fact was not set in stone.

The fate of this movie is directly linked to the budget. Of course, the director's vision and ability and the script are huge. Without a proper budget, no A-list talent.

I was at the Mass Effect Movie panel at Comic-Con back in July and they said that the movie will be about the first game. I also found a link to Legendary's blog which confirms that it will be about the first game.

pathetic.....the best way to make the movie would be to have Bioware write the damn plot, Do the whole movie in Digital Animation (by BLUR) and have the original Voice Actors do their job as always.

Where did the confirmation that it wouldn't be based on the games came from? I definitely rememeber it was a good source hence why I (and other people) are now cnfused whether it will be some kind of adaptation of ME1 or not really?

EDIT: Now I know where the confusion comes from. This Legendary blog Q&A has been quietly edited sometime in the past month. The original version was posted on August 2nd but went unnoticed by the media until September 21/22 when it was discovered and spread around the net. The original article stated that the movie would be a quote: "completly new story". The original version of the article also definitely ruled out Seth Green as Joker. Here's the original version, ComingSoon copied it: www.comingsoon.net/news/gamenews.php

Sometime after that Legendary must've edited the article since the very same link now has different answers to the questions, including the confirmation the movie WILL be based on the original first game. Seth Green answer also was changed, now it says they just haven't started casting yet.

August 2 (discovered on September 21/22) version:

Q: Will it just be an adaptation of the first game, second game, or a completely new story?
A: It will be a completely new story

After-September 21/22 version:

Q:  Will it just be an adaptation of the first game, second game, or a completely new story?
A:  It will focus on Commander Shepard's journey, centering around the story of the original Mass Effect game.

Just one example. Compare both versions of full Q&A to learn more. Well, we can definitely assume the later, updated version is the correct one. They wouldn't update to put wrong information right lol? Plus, it's in-line with what was said at the actual Comic-Con panel.

So there it is... It's gonna be an adaptation of ME1....

Agreed.

While there have been plenty of big budget flops, they are going to need deep pockets if this movie has any chance of being good. Besides needing a large budget to land quality writers, actors, and a good director, the setting and characters of Mass Effect are going to require good special effects and great CGI, and without deep pockets, you'll get neither.

I personally don't have much faith in this project, but I hope my fears turn out to be unfounded.

Oh, on a slightly unrelated note: The First Contact War would be a guaranteed box office flop.

It also depends on who's directing it.

I hope M. Night Shyamalan writes it, so we can find out that Shepard was dead this whole time

Having just read the ME:Evolution comic, i think that story could work well as a movie. It would start with the FCW and then transition into the comic's plot.

It's a shame they didn't go with FCW. Now we'll get 2-hour trailer version of ME1 with 'canon' Shepard, 'canon' choices and everything we're already seen in ME1. I mean.... what's the point?

I guess so. I mostly liked the music. The film could have been a lot better if there was a different director, but who?

Avatar: The Last Airbender was not anime. <_<

It was writen and originally voiced by Americans, and animates by Koreans.

On the other hand, it borrows so heavily from Anime that it's hard to remember there was a time when Anime was a rip-off of Disney.

AtLA is definitely a cross-culture product. and one of the key ingredients is a heavy anime influence in animation and story.

You really, really don't see that sort of story-continuity in the vast majority American cartoon series. It's really anime which brought over the idea that you can tell a continuous story and drama through animation, rather than purely episodic hijinks and comedy.

I think it's gonna fail.

The worst part is most people are gonna think it's just a movie and have no idea it's based on a game.

Comic book films were terrible at one point, and now they have Thor, Captain America, Ironman and The Dark Knight. It shows that they can improve, so perhaps you should give it a chance before saying it will be rubbish?

We never know, this might be the first good transfer from game to film.

Holy crap, they edited it. I wasn't too happy about a new story centered around Shepard. I wanted either a new story or the same story as ME1 and now they confirmed the latter. I'm also glad they edited the 'no Seth Green' comment.

I really can't imagine this being a good movie. No particular reason, so just call me biased. Therefore, I won't go see it unless the reviews are extremely positive.

Yep, I was very surprised about it too since I knew I read there that it would be "completly new story". But no that they've edited it, it's confirmed it's gonna be ME1 adaptation...
