The main town are in my module is not opening. It gives me an error meassage and crashes the toolset to desktop.
This has been happening a long time now but only 1 in 10 openings, but in this new mod, where I have copied the area from an older version it went to 1 in 3 and now it is simply not opening.
So it's corrupt I guess but is there something i can do to retrieve it. Theres a lot of work lost if I can't.
Whats the verdict, it is a corpse yet ...

I've had some luck using terracoppa, of course it has to be able to open for terracoppa.

Seems like this happened to me when I was working on "Lowena." It sounds like it is corrupted. You could try copying the older version again. If it doesn't work by importing it directly to the new mod, try importing it to a blank mod, the re-exporting THAT to a new erf and then importing it. Covoluted process, I know, but I think that's how I got the battle cut-scene area to work.

The original bad area I copied in the module using duplicate. Its a big area and in hindsight perhaps this is risky?

I've done several area restores using direct file copy in file mode and have never had a problem. I've duplicated fairly large areas before with no problems. Never a 32 or a 24, but I know that the area with the masters tower in TWA1 was duplicated fine. I forget how big it was, though...
I remember in the community mod we had problems with corruption in the approach to the mining town. There were large terrain differences there too... I don't know. I guess sometimes the areas just get corrupted.
Not long ago I had an area corrupt so that even though it was a large exterior, it was showing up in the toolset as a small tile area with a giant exterior superimposed on it. Some problem during saving or such. I think I did a direct file copy to fix that one. I think that area was a 24x24.

Thaks MR i had forgotten about the CM problem .. seems so long ago.
For now the new area seems stable. I just have to do everything again.
