Origin can be used offline, which I do all the time as I work offshore and can only access the internet properly through one computer which is hardwired to a certain firewall.
This thread is a carbon copy of all the threads that hung around the Internet around the time that Half Life 2 FORCED YOU, THE CONSUMER, TO INSTALL STEAM IF YOU WANTED TO PLAY THE GAME. People never complained when we had to install Gamespy or any other stupid application so we can play a game.
Anyhow for me, a European Consumer, the clause that forbids me from suing them and them checking my computer, without options, is illegal according to the European Law and as such if EA screws me I have the European Court to back me up. The same court that forced Microsoft to stop forcing people to have IE on their PCs.
Origin is the same as Steam for me, just with a smaller catalogue. Any other complaining is simple hypocrisy or people forgetting that Valve forced the same thing onto us just as EA with Origin in BF3.

And still, I couldn't agree with you more.
If Bioware won't "pull a gandalf" on Origin, I'll crack my CE pre-order.
Like you, I pay for my games with money, not with my privacy.

The loss of instruction manuals in EA games is frustrating enough, and now this.

No the console companies spy on you the same way they have always done before.Geth_Prime wrote...
Sorry for being a noob here, but this doesn't affect consoles, right? If not, I'm safe (not all that sure what Origin entails for you PC players but I don't want ME3 to be worse for you nonetheless).

Yes, their next step will be conecting consoles to PC, and require to install origins on PC and have it linked to the console for you to be able to play.

I don't do Steam for two reasons, no physical copy, malware/spyware.

They making it harder and harder to just enjoy a game without having to think about.

Will not work because Microsoft doesn't allow that kind of thing (even if they certainly do something like that themselve). But as for Sony...
Difference between console and PC is that you usually don't have sensitive information or anything really private on your goddamn console

I lol'd. Funnily enough, you can't play Indie games on 360 offline...

No one. In fact, Jesse Houston said you don't:
@gtez in your Origin FAQ can you answer whether we will require a persistent Internet connection to play the single player campaign, cheers
@CharmingCharli3 That I don't need to answer cause we aren't! It's Single Player fer pete's sake.

I never said I wouldn't play it, but I will not buy it. I am going to borrow it at the local library for the PS3.

I'll be thoroughly perturbed if Origin requires a constant net access.... it's the main reason I refuse to buy any Ubisoft games for PC (they require always on internet connection as a form of DRM).
Origin has an offline mode. I don't use it because I hardly ever have Origin running in the first place. None of the games I've downloaded the digital copies of require it (ME1, ME2, DAO, DA2).

There is probably little BW can do about this is all I'm saying. Redirect your grievances, at this rate it won't be long before I don't give a damn at this rate, and I ALWAYS try to give a damn.
