Wasn't sure that it would be proper to post this in the DA2 Threads given that Morrigan isn't really a DA2 character despite the references. The reason I'm even bringing this up is that, as the topic titles indicates, I was taking a close look at the Halloween Wallper BioWare released today and I found it strange that, on closer inspection, there are a lot of odd little additions to the scene, the most being the strange object Morrigan appears to be burning on her fingers. Now, it's more then likely I'm looking too far into this, but BioWare has a history of hiding clues to future characters and events in a series right infront of you without being overly obvious about it. Biggest example I can think of is the hidden NPC in The Circle Tower that basically hinted at what would happen in Awakening and Dragon Age 2. So, anyone spot anything interesting in the Image, aside from Morrigan looking really great?

I was wondering when I saw the pic if it was something like a tiny dragon in her hand, but it's too hard to make out. >.<

*hears Whitesnake singing "Is This Love" in the background*

I miss Morrigan.

*reminds himself to play some more Gears 3 or queue up some Farscape*

The crystal itself seems to have it's own light source.

It's stealing it from the candles.

Glad to see a few responses. Makes me feel like I'm not completely crazy for noticing a few things. Hope we get a few more keen eyes on this.

Yeah...no. Its a lovely wallpaper and its nice to see they didn't butcher Morrigan's face, but I think its best to just take it for what it is- a Halloween wallpaper of Morrigan. Unless we're going to start seeing the pumpkins in the foreground as omens of the Old Gods actually being Pumpkin People.

And if we're going to nitpick the image, Morrigan should have her hobo glove and bracelet on her right hand.

Well the pumpkin looks like its got a hand growing out of it, maybe you're on to something there :)

What is burning at the tips of Morrigan's fingers, it looks like a heart to me, with stuff stuck in it, but I've been working with a lot of photoshop the last few weeks in my web design class so I might be looking to much into it.

Knowing Morrigan, I wouldn't have doubted that.

Yeah, I tend to agree with you.  Probably nothing to take away from here in my view either.

However, it is a touch darker than what we normally see art-wise regarding Morrigan.  Do I detect something more sinister in her expression?  I certainly hope not.  Darker eyes perhaps?  And what's with the blood all over the walls, her skirt and staff, and the skulls (it's actually quite subtle)?...unless she's fresh out of combat, of course.  And, is there any symbology associated with the right side of the picture being blue/gray (light) and the left side being red/black (dark) with her splitting the middle?

Ahhh, probably just my imagination running wild after a couple of years of training in the Morrigan Discussion Thread.Image IPB

I'm thinking its more the artist's style of having the images really saturated- if you look at the ME images he's done, they're done in a similar style with how the contrast is way up, the darks really dark and having one or two other colors dominate. But her eyes are definitely darker, but so is the rest of the image.

Hell, I think I know exactly which screenshot they used for her face in that background, since they flipped it since Morrigan's hair always goes opposite what you see in the background.

The blood is likely just them trying to stick with the whole shtick of DA=everyone covered in gore, since apparently BioWare still thinks thats so awesome, despite most people thinking its over the top and corny.

It's just a cool (and rather sexy if I might say) Halloween wallpaper. I see nothing in it that portends any future events.

I have to respectfully disagree. While I'm aware you consider yourself the formost expert on Morrigan (that wasn't inteded to sound condescending. Come on, you litterally post in *every* Morrigan topic thread at length) and the pros and cons of how BioWare handles the character, I just can't help but think there's something to this. Seems a few folks here feel the same so I'd be willing to wager, statistically speaking, that others can't help but feel the same. I can't speak for them, clearly. I'm not that arrogant. However, the Halloween piece, while stunning, just catches my eye for more then the obvious reasons.

Truth be told, I'm not even an Uber-Morrigan fan. While I dig her role in the story and I always drop Flemeth for her in the name of Friendship, my Romance is with Leliana who's story I'm far more invested in (squeeled like a school girl when she showed up in DA2). So, for me to even care about this topic this much really says something to me. Eh, in the end, I suppose it really doesn't matter in the long haul as, hopefully, they're taking thier time with DA3 and we won't see it anytime soon. Still, just the idea that they had the artist in question put little *winks* in there is a cool thought.

Doubtful.

It's the ol' orange and blue contrast in posters deal. :P

I was more intrigued by her location. I would expect her to be hiding in the marshes, like Flemeth, but here it looks as if she was in the basement of the Tower. Or a Chantry. Weird.

Yeah, that sort of saturated, orange/blue, red/blue contrast with dark backgrounds seems to be the artist's thing. Like the Miranda picture he did for ME:

Maybe its just me, but I can see faces, or at least one face, in the smoke just above the spiderwebs. I'm a huge fan of Morrigan, and whether this picture has hints in it or not, it is an amazing picture of her. It really captures her persona, I think. It's so her, and thats what I love most about it.
