- Decisions with actual game-changing consequences. Not one line being different because of something I did or said.
- Realistic armour for squad-mates.
- The option to role-play in more depth. In Mass Effect you don't get to show any real dislike to people who the game doesn't want you to. You can never outright hate Cerberus, and no matter how much you can act like you dislike squad-mates, the game still treats it as though you do (Shepard's reaction to Liara, or when somebody dies on the Normandy in the SM).
- I'd like my hand held a lot less than in Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2. In both the game tells you to speak to your party members to do their missions, they even called them 'Loyalty' missions in the journal, which was basically a neon sign saying "Do this mission or they may die". I preferred ME1 and DA:O where it wasn't shived in your face, and you could choose to ignore them without the game seemingly wanting you to.
It makes it a lot harder to role-play. If you don't do the missions in ME1 and DA:O it is either because you didn't want to help, or you didn't get to know them well enough, which makes a lot of difference. in ME2 and DA2, you cannot possibly be unaware that they want your help and so the only role-playing reason for not helping them is Shepard doesn't care.
I want choices, I don't want to be spoonfed, I don't want to be nudged in a direction how Bioware wants me to play, I want to play the game my way. They did it right in ME1 and DA:O for the most part, so there is no reason they cannot do it again.

2 was hard enough without making the AI more inteligent, i barely beat insane mode. why would people complain that a reasonably difficult game was too easy, it wasn't easy if you turned up the difficulty.
online achievements are a blight on the gaming world, they make us play in ways that dont suit our particlar style. not to mention the backlash from the multiplayer announcement will increase if there is even one online achievement, because socially awkward and anti-social people are the lifeblood of rpgs and any attempts to make them interface with other people is an unplesant experience for most(if not all) of the people involved

Vanguard needs an attack just as cool or cooler than the Soldier's Blade Charge and the Dual Blades that one class has.
Bigger chest and more defined butt for Female Shepard. 100% seriousness, won't find anything less from me.
No required helmets for DLC, I hated that about the downloaded armor for ME2.
No blue interface, or an interface that changes color based on Paragon or Renegade. And none of this orange red business, Renegade needs to have a Dark Red or Bright Red interface.

1. gun modifications
2. ability to make a lot of money by collecting things
3. better mechanics when it comes to hiding behind objects and such
4. gun stats (numbers like in Mass Effect 1)
5. Armor variety like Mass Effect 1 with color modification like Mass Effect 2
6. Grenades
7. Multiple grenade modifications
8. have auto-save make a new save as an option in the settings
9. ricochet effects (so can get enemies with blown up objects, or bullets bouncing off the walls)
10. once you complete the game you get to see a "events" tree kind of thing to show how many possible paths there are for things. and we can watch cut scenes through it as well. the cut scenes we have unlocked anyways. we could then also see what we had to do to unlock more cut scenes. I think this would be a great way to really show the value of playing the game multiple times and making different choices. maybe have it also tell on the tree what rewards we got/would get because of those choices (I am sure that would end up being a Strategy Guide only thing)
11. the Robotic Dog does NOT to take up a squad member slot, like it does for Dragon Age: Origins. have it as us if we want the dog to join us or not for the mission., but not take up a squad member slot
12. upgradeable armor, like you could in Mass Effect 1
13. a few missions where you get to use all your recruited team members and can give them orders
14. blind shooting to scare enemy
15. multiple ways to throw a grenade and how it lands. i.e.: have it bounce around or choose to have it stick where it hits, have it explode in mid-air like Mass Effect 1, a high arc, straight (like in Mass Effect 1), or roll it. also a timer that comes up to say how long it will last before it automatically explodes
16. hitting limbs affects stats other than health. i.e.: hitting a leg slows the enemy down, or causes it to fall for a bit (like the mechs do in Mass Effect 2), hitting the arms takes away accuracy and/or length of time the enemy can fire, and hitting the head does massive bonus damage (like in Mass Effect 2 at least, think Mass Effect 1 is the same way)
17. Liara on the team again, might be hard because she is the new shadow broker but there is that friend of hers that is hanging out with her so she could let him run the information while she fights
18. planet scanning like Mass Effect 1. scanning for resources like in Mass Effect 2 is neat, but really slows the game down and all. combine the 2 but make it fast paced like Mass Effect 1 does, after all we have to hurry up and destroy the Reapers before they destroy all sentient life
19. a demo by early January to show how things will most likely be, as in the real game can still have changes made to it, would be awesome
20. both the Mako and the Firewalker, maybe a third one if BioWare really wants to, but they shouldn't need to
21. vehicle upgrades, like more burn time for bursts, more thrust, etc. a meter to show how much burst fuel is available would be great
22. a battle where we control the Normandy might be neat, though difficult to do. could try and use similar controls and mechanics that were used in Star Trek: Legacy for the XBox 360
23. the ship upgrades we got for Mass Effect 2 carry over into Mass Effect 3, as well as some new ones. ones that change how the Normandy look would be neat
24. keep the interrupts! they were awesome in Mass Effect 2
25. let us gain experience points from kills like we did in Mass Effect 1
26. allow us to change the equipment we have more often in the mission, like Mass Effect 1 allowed, but could make it like the weapon benches, in multiple places throughout the mission
27. if we can't have someone as a squad member again how about letting us have a mission that we can do with them. like what happens in the Shadow Broker DLC with Liara. we had to have Liara on our team but it was only until the end of that mission, afterwards she left to do what she felt would be most helpful to Sheppard
28. have an ability to create a shield barrier like some of the geth could do in Mass Effect 1
29. cooling modifications to the weapons. how about modifications that will modify EVERY stat of the weapon
30. more modification slots. 3 won't be much for the most likely final game of the series, definitely the last for Sheppard
31. try to have at least as many landing locations as Mass Effect 2 seems to have, albeit some of them are one time visits though
32. have a higher max level than Mass Effect 2, kind of like Mass Effect 1. that way the more we play with the same file the more HP and such we can get
33. make sure that if we max out our level we can max out the skill trees
34. a Omni-Tool Shield. so we can run up on targets and have a body shield and that shield. we can use the shield to knock down enemies and then stab them while they are down, or it switches to the melee weapon and takes them out. seems like a neat idea to me
35. the have the resource collection like Mass Effect (the survey not the while on the planet though), BUT have it so you know what planets and such you have and have not been to like in Mass Effect 2
36. Sprinting. in ME 1 you could only quickly run when there were enemies around, but you had to deal with fatigue. it would be nice to be able to run quickly anytime, they are doing away with the fatigue which is great. I just hope that even when enemies aren't around we can still run at a good pace
37. you collect thermal clips, but they go to a collective stash. this would make it so you could use ALL your thermal clips on 1 weapon if desired. it makes sense when the thermal clip doesn't have different version. since they are all the same it would make more sense that you could use it for all your weapons, the heavy weapon of course would continue to use power cells like in ME 2. it makes sense that if the thermal clips are all the same I could use them on any weapon. depending on the weapon stats of course it would determine how many shots you can get out of the thermal clip like in ME 2. it would allow us not to have to switch between the weapons because ammo ran out but rather tactics would sugest a different weapon
38. keep the weapon upgrade research thing from ME2. that way we have general upgrades and modifications
39. I would like them to make it so when you highlight a saved game file it shows some of the bonuses you got/will get and some of the choices that have been made and some of the character stats, like level, paragon/renegade level, etc. it could be like a long table. something like:
Council: Saved/Dead
Romance in ME 1: Liara/Ashley
Romance in ME 2:
Rachni: Dead/Alive
Paragon Bonus:
Renegade Bonus:
Level/Experience Point Bonus:
etc.
40. something else I also liked is for PC in ME 2 there were medals for doing certain things, like you would have gotten if you played on the XBox360 I would think. ME 1 for the PC didn't have that. I am hoping they do it for ME 3, maybe even give some rewards for doing them no matter the platform. like you get extra experience points, extra money, extra items, etc. and the stuff would happen for any and all new games from then on. just an idea anyways
41. I think it would be nice, especially if there is a long opening without being able to skip over it like in ME 2. that was the downside to playing it so many times, that opening set of movies you can't skip through. could that ability be added so if we hit the escape key or the enter key we can skip through it? it can ask us if we are sure
these are the ideas I came up with. I doubt they are the best ideas and all. if everyone could comment on these, numbers are to make it easier to do so, then we can help BioWare make Mass Effect 3 the best game of the DECADE!!! or at least the year hands down. I know some of these are already done. if they actually are doable without ruining the game that is. I hope I covered a lot of the stuff. and those that come up with other ideas continue the numbering system so it is easy to make comments about certain ideas. I had originally posted this on facebook so exuse some of the outdated stuff. this is definitely a better place to put it. I am really looking forward to the game and I am hoping that they don't give in to a lot of crappy ideas. one of them being you have to have origin to play. that would suck. I want to be able to install the game, and then play the game. I don' want to have to have internet access to play the single player part of the campaign and still be able to keep any and all the DLC I get for it

here is an another idea, bring back the achievement power ups from ME1. they helped me to get all of them and gave me incentive to get all of them

-Gunship for the vehicle exploring component
-No restrictions on dialogue options based on Paragon/Renegade levels if you level up persuasion when you upgrade the class skill
-No terribly inefficient sublight engines for the Normandy on the galaxy map
-The ability to recolor the guns
-Better squadmate AI and mobility

This.
It's important to know when to listen to the fans to receive information about some gameplay part that can be improved and when to ignore them because they're constantly bickering about the most idiotic things they think the devs should do which clashes with everything.

I would say it's important for a dev team to listen to the feedback from the prior game and then draw conclusions from that - but it should be the dev teams conclusions and not us rambling jar heads telling them what we wish them to do.

2. Don't let S/S relationships be something that you can bumble into like Tali's romance. I'm always decent even on my Renegade play throughs to my crew alot of the times I just select the Paragon or neutral choice in one of Tali's convo you can bumble through and oh **** she thinks I like her. I'll be honest... i'm never, NEVER gonna play a gay Shep that might be other peoples cup of tea but it most definately ain't mine
3. An "I told you so moment" to the Council not... "I tried to warn you" not... "We all gonna die" I actually would like Shepherd to say "I told you so, looks like your were wrong to 'dismiss' the Reaper threat now weren't you?"

What's the point of being in space if you can't fly a ship once in a while? You might as well just be on earth...

I have never bought a Mass Effect game for one simple reason: It's a space combat game without space combat.

OK....
a. Then why are you posting here if you're completely uninterested in ME?
b. It's not a space combat game.

Ehh... kind of. Fan input is needed, but they shouldn't try and please every single fan and follow everything that is requested, because then it becomes a mess.
The fact is, fans keep series running, and no, this does not mean that the developers are "obliged" to then do whatever those fans ask, but it does mean that they need to remember who is paying their wages down the line, and so while they are free to completely ignore the fanbase, it is their own fault if it ends up biting them in the arse (DA2, and this whole Origin mess being good examples).
The problem with gaming of course, is that we don't know how much we will like or dislike it until we play it, and once we have bought it, then it doesn't matter much to Bioware all that much if we hate the game. Although I'd like to think that they do give a damn about their fans, even though I don't very much like their attitude towards them a lot of the time.
Most game companies need to take a look at how Valve deal with things. They can delay a game twice, have a sequel that is around 7 years in the making, and yet their fans still adore them. Why? Because time and time again, they show them that it's not all about the money. They don't add on story-based DLC on the disc and expect the player to pay to unlock it, they don't rush their games to make a quick buck, and they will patch their games for years after their release.
