I have never bought a Mass Effect game for one simple reason: It's a space combat game without space combat.
 What's the point of being in space if you can't fly a ship once in a while?  You might as well just be on earth...

OK....

a. Then why are you posting here if you're completely uninterested in ME?
b. It's not a space combat game.

I never said I wasn't interested.  It's just that a cover shooter in space seems like half a game without the space combat.  IMO there is a glut of code for decent cover shooters and space sims are probably the simplest and oldest code in gaming history.  I don't see why no one has figured out that slapping these two elements together would potentially create the most epic OPEN UNIVERSE sandbox in RPG history.

A RPG cover shooter in space is just a sci-fi gimmick with space combat cutscenes as window dressing.

This thread is pointless since Bioware won't add any new stuff.

This
      Their in polishing stage now, too late for anything new to be add. Also on the OPs thought that Bioware should listen to the public, I think that should happen for some things but not most. A lot of times the public has no idea what is going on or don't have the knowledge as what goes into making a game.

Everything is pointless, that doesn't mean it cannot be fun to say what we'd like to see. All you need to do is think of it as "What would you like to see", seeing as we know very little so far, they could very well be in the game.

I agree.  there have been many things tried because the public said they wanted it, but when it came out it bit.  I think the hope for this thread though is enough people have the same idea and it is with basis on other games, especially ME1 and ME2, they could at least do a hint of the ideas to at least see how they would turn out.  the people that get to test the game are the luckiest people in the universe in my mind.  albeit they also have to deal with anything that bites in the game till it gets changed.  I just pray that this game will be better than we could hope, within reason.  I am sure this will be a game that will have enough for any gamer to at least be willing to rent it and play it and feel it was worth renting if not good enough to buy.  only because redbox allows renting of PS3 and XBox360 games, I got mine for the PC

1- I loved the loyalty mission, but it could be a bit more difficult to get companions loyalty;
2- The characters we not play in ME3 could stay in your crew, but helping you out of the battle fields;
3- Have sex at any time of the game you get 100% love of your romance interest (just like Dragon Age);
4- The loyalty missions only be avaiable after you have some friendship with your character, and not only after 50% of the game;
5- I loved the "fights" between your characters, but it could be more;
6- Back the specializations of ME1 (medic, for example);
7- The achievements follow the pattern of ME2, because the achievements of ME1 were boring;
8- Never get Mako back!!!;
9- the assignments have greater impact in the history (do assignments in ME2 were idiot, because there was next 0 to the impacts);

Now I will put the javeron 1's best ideas in my opinion:
10- if we can't have someone as a squad member again how about letting us have a mission that we can do with them. like what happens in the Shadow Broker DLC with Liara. we had to have Liara on our team but it was only until the end of that mission, afterwards she left to do what she felt would be most helpful to Sheppard;
11- Sprinting. in ME 1 you could only quickly run when there were enemies around, but you had to deal with fatigue. it would be nice to be able to run quickly anytime, they are doing away with the fatigue which is great. I just hope that even when enemies aren't around we can still run at a good pace
12- keep the weapon upgrade research thing from ME2. that way we have general upgrades and modifications
13-ricochet effects (so can get enemies with blown up objects, or bullets bouncing off the walls)
14- once you complete the game you get to see a "events" tree kind of thing to show how many possible paths there are for things. and we can watch cut scenes through it as well. the cut scenes we have unlocked anyways. we could then also see what we had to do to unlock more cut scenes. I think this would be a great way to really show the value of playing the game multiple times and making different choices. maybe have it also tell on the tree what rewards we got/would get because of those choices (I am sure that would end up being a Strategy Guide only thing)
15- the Robotic Dog does NOT to take up a squad member slot, like it does for Dragon Age: Origins. have it as us if we want the dog to join us or not for the mission., but not take up a squad member slot
16- a few missions where you get to use all your recruited team members and can give them orders
17- hitting limbs affects stats other than health. i.e.: hitting a leg slows the enemy down, or causes it to fall for a bit (like the mechs do in Mass Effect 2), hitting the arms takes away accuracy and/or length of time the enemy can fire, and hitting the head does massive bonus damage (like in Mass Effect 2 at least, think Mass Effect 1 is the same way)
18- Liara on the team again, might be hard because she is the new shadow broker but there is that friend of hers that is hanging out with her so she could let him run the information while she fights
19- the ship upgrades we got for Mass Effect 2 carry over into Mass Effect 3, as well as some new ones. ones that change how the Normandy look would be neat
20- keep the interrupts! they were awesome in Mass Effect 2
21- let us gain experience points from kills like we did in Mass Effect 1
22- if we can't have someone as a squad member again how about letting us have a mission that we can do with them. like what happens in the Shadow Broker DLC with Liara. we had to have Liara on our team but it was only until the end of that mission, afterwards she left to do what she felt would be most helpful to Sheppard
23- have an ability to create a shield barrier like some of the geth could do in Mass Effect 1
24- have a higher max level than Mass Effect 2, kind of like Mass Effect 1. that way the more we play with the same file the more HP and such we can get

I liked to have a big team in ME2, maybe it's impossible for ME3, but it would be cool if they stay at your ship or have an important apearence in ME3.

Here is a great suggestion that you all should listen to: LET THE GAME COME OUT BEFORE YOU JUDGE IT! That is all.

If i was to say anything, (and i can't really think of anything that hasn't already been said is changing) i would say more interesting side quests. The side quests on ME2 used to bore the hell out of me. The only one i particially liked were the loyality missions and the shadow broker one. Also, maybe have it so you could have a more physical relationship with your partner. Not have a romantic session once per the entire game, sheesh.

42. being able to switch between 3rd person and 1st person views, like Fallout 3. I think it might be neat, especially with the multiplayer content

look at all these opinions which shouldn't and won't be listened to.

I rather bioware did their own thing.

When Shepard opens tali's mask he sees a mirror, then hes like, "oh, so I was the answer all along!"

Then, he is kung fu panda.

The end.

Making games is not, and should never be a democracy.

Letting them make the game how they want to make it and not listen to the rejects on the forum who obviously knows absolutely nothing about game design would be a great move.

I hate to be 'that guy', but Mass Effect 3 is not even out yet nor has anyone aside from testers played the game. How can it improve when we don't even have the finished product?

I think I'll wait until Mass Effect 3 ships, is in my console, and I play through the game a few times before I decide what I think the next installment should 'improve on'.

No harsh tone, rudeness or sarcasm intended.

Small, easy changes:

0. Allow us to set just one squadmate to auto-use their powers.
1. Ship airlocks. Let us walk out.
2. More codex entries. Entries about powers, ammo, weapon mods, etc.
3. Squadmates get basic melee attacks.

More overarching changes:

0. More synth, atmospheric music like in ME1. No more bland symphonic scores like in ME2. ME2 tracks, except for suicide mission and a couple others, were bland, forgettable and annoying. I hate the collector platform music.
1. Squadmates talk to each other on the Normandy, like in KOTOR 2.
2. Squadmates recognize the existence of other members on your crew.
3. What you say to squadmates affects their actions later in the game.
4. No more personal stories or squadmate daddy issues. There is more at stake.
5. Relationships where consummation isn't an end game reward. This is silly.

Overall, a return to ME1's hard sci-fi, with a consistent universe and gameplay. Things work like in the codex. Change the codex if you have to.

"Improvements" is a bad thread title. Think of it as "suggestions", or things you want to see.

1. ME1 style economy, the ME2 one was terrible
2. A good reason for Liara to be with Shepard, (Feron taking over while Liara is with Shepard is not good enough)
3. The recruit/loyalty mission's got quite repetative over time make each mission unique
4. Don't make Tali a space elf/babe when she take's off her mask
5. Give the VS fan's a very good romance to make for Horizon, the VS fan's deserve it
6. No marriage, family etc that is walking into sims territory
7. If Shepard is a jerk to squad member's the squad member's should start hating Shepard, not loving him/her

I saw space combat was mentioned and feel the need to respond:

Space combat would SUCK, because in Mass Effect, space combat is essentially WW2 naval battles in space, only much faster.

sure, there are fighters, but based on technology in other areas of life, the fighters aren't nearly as cool as, say, star wars.

Not always the case. Marriage at least could be pulled off.
