I hate to be 'that guy', but Mass Effect 3 is not even out yet nor has anyone aside from testers played the game. How can it improve when we don't even have the finished product?

I think I'll wait until Mass Effect 3 ships, is in my console, and I play through the game a few times before I decide what I think the next installment should 'improve on'.

No harsh tone, rudeness or sarcasm intended.

"Improvements" is a bad thread title. Think of it as "suggestions", or things you want to see.

Okay no problem :) Sorry if I came off as rude or condescending (sooooo not my intention).

-LI fights (and not just aftermath...I wanna see hair/tentacle fold pulling and fists going at it
-Vega s/s romance
-Shepard getting at least ONE ending where he or she gets to marry the LI of his/her choice
-Full character customization for multiplayer (hairstyle, facial features, etc...)
-Spiky and cornrow styles for MShep/Human customization
-Afro, cornrow, and long hair styles for FShep/Human customization
-Happy endings for our Shepard and all LI characters

That's all I can really think of as Mass Effect 3 already seems to be delivering on what I want. Of course it will never be Mass Effect 1 (my ultimate favorite over ME 1/2 so far) but hey it looks to be headed in the right direction.

like the marraige idea.  would be a great way to end the game if there was a wedding between sheppard and the person we romanced enough.  personally I am sticking with Liara ^.^

also like the idea of complete scustomization for the online characters

43. I would also like
to be able to exit the vehicle like we could in ME1
44. a different
button to choose a speech option than to skip a line of speech. so if we have
played through and are skipping through dialog we don't accidently select the
wrong speech option
45. if we spend the
time to explore everything and are max level we should have been able to max
everything out. it bites for ME1 because I am max level and there is no way I
can get more squad points to finish maxing out things. just an idea anyways.
it would be nice if we spent the time and all to get max level we should get
enough points to max everything out
46.
PS3 users can play against XBox 360 users who can also play against PC users
with the multiplayer/co-op. that way it is a lot easier to find others. this
would also mean that a mic patch would be useful for PC so we can communicate
with those that use the PS3 or the XBox360 and have a headset. this should be
pretty easy to do. could even take it a step further and make a "patch" that
allows voice recognition for the PC people like those with a kinect will be able
to do
47. maybe instead of
both vehicles from ME1 and ME2 maybe a new one, with 2 weapons like the ME1
vehicle had, though the heavy weapon have the lock-on capability that the ME2
vehicle had, and the ability to hit a large angle selection like the ME2 vehicle
can, with the zoom that the ME1 vehicle had. that zoom feature was
awesome
48. if we have to
mine for resources make it only like that in ME2. having to drive around to
find resources was SILLY!

Few ideas:

Enemies that are injured and low on health should stagger about and crawl around for help etc. Kinda make it a bit more believable that they are ****ed. Except the Reapers I guess.

Sort out the heavy Melee combat aesthetics as it looks ridiculous having guns just disappear.

Make the planet travel etc just like the 1st ME game. Far smoother IMO

Make Ash's eyes look a little less sleepy in parts of the game. I actually dig her new look now its just...those eyes on various occasions! :/

Make more casual + Armour colours etc as I'm a bit gay and like having more options to express my Shepard more! Perhaps more patterns on the armour? Who knows!

Little things I know. Sorry

After CrutchCricket's new thread has been locked and I don't know if he's still online, I'll repost the relevant parts of the stuff pertaining to Miranda here. I know "more screentime" will probably not be possible at this point, but just in case it is I'll leave it in. And actually I think a slot on the core team is problematic from a story perspective, but I'll keep that in as well.

Here's what we think Miranda's presence in ME3 should feature:

*Satisfying culmination of Miranda-Cerberus story arc, including dealing with the difference and separation of her goals and Cerberus'
*Full romance arc with romance scene(s)
*More screentime and interaction with her. Permanent or temp squad status a plus, but even if she never joins the squad, consistent interaction with her is greatly desired.
*Character specific problems addressed/resolved including infertility, problems with her origin and enhancements etc.
*Clear in-game purpose and contribution to endgame (final mission)
*Miranda not reduced to a victim.

There is a more detailed post made here. This link contains spoilers.

More ideas:

For the Xbox, make it so that you can map squad powers to the Left and Right thumbstick push-downs instead of using the D-pad.

From the PAX demo of the ME3 Sentinel, the new 'Amplification' power turns off your Tech Armor when you turn it on. It would be much cooler if it didn't - if Tech Armor and Amplification (with its cool purple/blue omni-tool animation) could be used together...

Lastly, fix the Sentinel's heavy melee attack. Instead of two omni-blades stabbing, make it one omni-blade and one Amplification omni-tool. One stabs while the other electrocutes... This would be much more visually exciting...

Thanks Ieldra for posting the Miranda info. I doubt this will make a difference but just so it won't be said I didn't do everything I could, here is Kasumi's list from the same thread:

* Significant screentime for Kasumi, including maximum possible squad time.
* Maximum level of interaction including but not limited to full dialogue, banter and optional romance arc.
* Continuation/resolution of greybox plot
* Character growth and development- we would like to see Kasumi's character expanded while keeping some of her mystique, quirky humor and insightfulness

As well there were a few other suggestions I saw before all this happened:

Same-sex romance for Vega
Michael Beattie to return for Mordin's role.

CptData wrote a more comprehensive list on the Ashley thread. Here is a link.

... Leave the mass effect universe intact enough for potentially following (non shepard oriented) games.
This basicly includes a happy ending where not a single species get's exterminated

... include a quarian doctor, these guys are in their own enviro suits and are therefore immune to any viral disease in a universe where the plague could kill somebody in 3 days and stations and planets routinely get quarantinend they should be the only species that could move freely.
... also please give rana thanoptis a cameo she's the only ugly asari in the universe and probably the biggest expert on reaper technology (other contestends being TIM and the GETH (heretics))

- Less DLC but better quality (Zaeed & Kasumi lacked Normandy dialogues)
- Same-sex romance for Kaidan
- no mandatory Origin for retail PC copies

This. Minus the Origin part because those things never really bother me. Also ↓

If squaddies are going to die no matter how well we play - make their deaths INCREDIBLY MOVING. Easier said than done, I know, but they should keep trying.

Make choices matter. I don't care how long the game has to be pushed back to fix this. If you release the game in a state similar to Dragon Age 2 where all choices lead to essentially the same outcome, expect a reception similar to Dragon Age 2.

Well I am thinking. All the small decision should matter. Especialy minerals XD. Then achievements should unlock more so the game would be worth replaying.( I am not saying it would itself but that would be the best). For example achievements in ME1 were great. Made me play the game a lot. ME2 achievements... only one affect the game so that was good but then again it wasnt as much as in ME1. Maybe if they could find happy middle.

You want to change something about a game you have yet to play and experience?

...Because yeah, that makes sense.

Have "Boss" enemies like YMIR mechs and Atlas mechs visually display how much damage they take. For example, show exposed gears and other mechanisms where the armor has been blown off. Also, if possible, have the damage you do to an Atlas gradually weaken its fighting ability and mobility. For reference, see the fight scene between the alien mech and the mercenaries in District 9. Freakin' awesome.

Well, the "glass" in front of the pilot seat shatters at a certain amount of damage, and I'm pretty sure that they showed armor parts being blown off of some enemy in the Halloween BioWare Pulse episode.

I personally would like armor parts that adds damage resistance to certain elements and weapons instead of just adding more health.
