Just explains how ME1 and ME2 are just a preamble ( intro, lead up to ME3), and that ME3 will offer a proper conclusion to the series.

The older games were singleplayer games with a focus on singleplayer. Back when Mass Effect was good, before multiplayer, energy swords, railgun sequences and plastic FemShep.

Mass Effect 3 is the new Dragon Age 2

You know when BioWare was cool? back in the days of BG1&2, which had MP in them, oh how ironic!

I see it only took two posts to turn this thread over to the completely unrelated topic of multiplayer.

Well done, guys!

Ouch, very ouch. I'm going to wait until I play the game before I pass judgment.

"It's like the Superbowl. Who cares what happened in the regular season? Now's the one that matters."

Sigh...

"You could say the previous games were just a preamble to this moment. Everything has been building to this. It's like the Superbowl. Who cares what happened in the regular season? Now's the one that matters."

Besides the fact that if it were not for the regular season, we wouldn't currently be at the superbowl. I find the example very frustrating.

I'm sorry, but this guy has been "Down with ME3!" for months now without any valid reasons in his posts.

While I'm not as saddened by dumb a** statements by hypesters as some, I really do wish there was a requirement that people talking about a series be required to have played the series. I don't think anybody who got all the way through ME1 and 2 would make a statement quite like that.

Who cares, they say?

Honestly I think there just saying that for 2 reason. 1 because they want more people to play it now and don't want them to feel as if they are missing anything or they're just trying to make the PS3 gamers happy because they don't have ME1 and don't want them to feel left out.

+1. Stupidest Bioware marketing quote thus far, considering that the whole effing draw for the majority of people buying this game will be to finish what we started. You know, actions, consequences, that sort of thing? I really hope no one there actually thinks that a galaxy-wide war is comparable to one football game. If it weren't for ME1, I wouldn't even be looking at ME3.

The example doesn't really make sense (lol Canadian developers...) but maybe they thought of it this way.

If the Superbowl were decided last year based on regular season alone, it would have been played between the Patriots and Falcons, as they were t he best from each conference.

Instead, we got the Steelers (#2 seed) and the Packers (#6 seed). I think a better example would have been to say this is the POST season... but even that doesn't really make sense.

Okay, I backtrack. The analogy is horrid.

I hate how all the devs and reps have just been dismissing their own previous two games as unimportant, and that this is the best place to start. 'Don't bother playing 1 and 2 just buy 3 it's da best! Who cares about the other stuff like characters story and background just get 3, it has more shooting and guns and fun stuff not like crappy RPG booorrring stuff.'  WTF!? It's bullsh*t a complete lie and incredibly frustrating. You don't start a bloody trilogy at the end! All these claims that you should start at ME3 make me think that the import system will be rough.

I'll still buy it of course, it's just kinda annoying coming from a BioWare manager, he should be promoting all their games.

They've been saying that in marketing, but outside of it(tweets) they've said the previous game's choices are important.
