I can hear the background music and my dog barking, I can see subtitles, but I get no character dialogue from my companions and their lips arent moving.

The only advice I've found on the forum so far was to "Remove everything from the packages\\core\\override folders, both in the My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age directory and the Dragon Age Installation path".  I removed everything in My Documents/..../packages/core/override and it didnt help. I don't know how to find the installation path so couldn't do that bit.

I'm playing the original version of the game on steam, V.1.04, using Vista. My system specs according to the configerator are as follows:

Processor: Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU    Q9400  @ 2.66GHz
Clock Speed: 2657 MHz
Physical Memory: 2.99 GB
Display Adaptor: NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT / GeForce GT 220M driver version 266.58
Sound Adapter: Speaker/HP (Realtek High Definition Audio) version 6.0.1
DirectX 11

Earlier today I had problem with the menu text not showing up which turned out to be down to the toolset (that was fixed by doing a reinstall). Is the toolset doing this too? I can't find it in my program files to uninstall it.

EDIT: I've found the DragonAgeToolset.exe in my Steam folders, is it safe/advisable to delete it?

Ain't it always the way... 5 more minutes of researching and I found a fix.

For anyone with the same problem.. this was actually a Steam issue. I had changed my steam client to use Russian language for a few days and it had automatically downloaded the Russian language packs for some games. Apparently DA:O was still trying to use this pack despite me having switched Steam back to English many weeks ago.

Here's the thread for the fix http://forums.steamp...d.php?t=1358237
