Hi everybody.
I bought a DVD-version of the game, today. Installing went smoothly, and I had high expectations when I finally hit
the "Play"-button, I really enjoyed DA: Origins.
The game then wanted to make a "Release Date Check"*, I thought it a bit wierd since it has been like 9 months since it was released... I clicked accept and the loading bar doesn't go up one bit. Instead I get:
"An error occurred during the online release date check. Click RETRY to try again. If the error persists, please click CANCEL to abort the process and find
a solution at the support website: https://support.securom.com/"
So far I've tried of course shutting down firewalls and maked sure I'm logged in as an administrator. I've come across posts from other people having the same issue, but that was before the game was released. People had bought the game on midnight sharp, and was not able to play it due to timezones, i.e living on the East Coast in the States forced them to wait for several hours before they could validate it etc.
When I click the link to securom's support it (after some careful reading on that messy site) suggests I activate it manually here, https://support.secu...Aunlock/?c=1000 . But that requires an "Unlock Request Code" which "can be found on the activation dialog". I never saw that while typing in my serial number.
I will try to re-install my game now, but I have a strange feeling it won't work... I will of course get back if it does..! So, I'm calling out for help, because I've never seen this kind of issue before. If there are a thread about this already, feel free to tell/move me, but then it should be about having this issue after realeas date.
Sorry for any spelling/grammatic errors, I'm not a native speaker.

*This software requires an online Release Date Check on the first launch after installation. For this an active internet connection is required.
Application and hardware identifiers are sent to the time server.
If the Release Date Check passes, a decryption key is received from the server and the application files and folders are decrypted and replaced.
Please click on 'Accept' if you want to continue or click 'Cancel' to abort this process

Try patching the game.

I thought about that and went looking here https://help.ea.com/...ct=dragon-age-2 , it doesn't seem to be any available, so I just assumed I should be able to do it from the game itself. I'll look harder then.

Thank you, I love you, but really, shouldn't the official site have it..?

What I'm asking is really if I have to go to this forum everytime there is a patch. Not that it seems to be another time since the game won't accept my EA-account (invalid email/password) although I've had it for several months and can log into their site perfectly. Thanks for the patch anyway, I got a bit closer seeing the end to this I hope.

Do you have any special characters in your password?? $%^*&?? if so change it.
Yeah, all patches for Bioware stuff generally are here. Look at the top of the page under games, and it has a drop down list with links to web pages for the game and more importantly patches and dlc.

No, I don't have any of those characters in my password, just letters and numbers. I eventually tried to reset the password but the reset-link sent in an email ended in a "404 not found" (http://www.origin.co...ge=linkNotValid). In the email there are also a clickable link to use if the reset-link has ceased to be valid, but that link also take me to infamous 404. I tried logging in with my bf's EA-account details when starting the game as well but it doesn't work.
Seems to me now that this is an EA issue, so I will have to contact them.
