My Wizard was doing great with his Level 5 spells and his Two Handed Weapons.

Something happened.  All the spells in the 1-10 spots are "grey" and can't be cast.

My spell book had all spells I've learned and memorized, up to Level 5.  Now, my Learned Spells are still there, but my Memorized Spells only have slots up to Level 2 Spells.  Slots 3-5 are gone.  The Level 3, 4, 5 spells still appear on the Right Side.  Just no slots for them.

The level 3-5 spells still appear in the 1-10 quick use bar, they are grey and unuseable.

Also, my Wizard won't strike in battle.  He'll run up to the targeted creep, but won't strike, either with the mouse button, or the " Attack " command in the drop down menu.

It's not equipment or anything I could figure out in the Options, or Modes.  Searched the Forum to no avail.....What have I done this time.....

Any ideas

It sounds like either your levels or INT have been drained (possibly both). Try a little Restoration first.

On the other hand, the "can't attack" definitely sounds buggy.  If you're using Tony K's AI, check your character options and make sure you haven't disabled melee attacks.  Otherwise ...  Image IPB

Hi.. Melee was on.. INT hadn't taken a hit. I went into the "cheats" and raised the INT to see if it made any difference. It didn't. I put INT back to where it was.

Went to a saved game from the other day. Same thing. All spells "grey" and uncastable.

The game is patched and a legal copy, bought from Amazon several years ago. Just didn't play it till now.

Has anyone heard of this happening. Searched, but nothing. I'd hate to waste another 20+ hrs only to have it happen again.

Thanks....

Can you post a screen shot, and include both your spell book ( B key ) and your character sheet ( C key )

Hi Taarnah,

To take a screen shot with windows:
-Start the game
-Take control of the PC
-Press "c", which opens the character sheet
-Press the "PrtScrn" or "Print Screen" key on the keyboard. This puts a screenshot .jpg in the "/My Documents/Neverwinter Nights 2" folder (by default).
-Press "b", which opens the character's spellbook.
-Press the printscreen key again. This puts another screenshot .jpg in the "/My documents/Neverwinter Nights 2 folder".

Next, reply here using the "or use the standard form" to post the screenshots. May have to host the pictures on another site.

Edit:  Actually, here's a thread on how to post pics:

Edit 2:  Oops.  I see you started getting help in the tech area a few hours ago.

After what you've described i'd really need a screen shot at this point to really have any chance of helping you.

You can google how to do a screen shot in NWN2.

Here's my question to you:
What was the last thing you were doing before this occurred -- in game, I mean, not whether or not you were eating something or drinking or reading the paper, but what actions occurred in the game just prior to you noticing this? Usually, these things occur as a result of some in-game action, either during play or through computer glitching, little known game bug, etc. So knowing, as close to possible what was going on at the time this occurred could provide some extra little insight that might allow someone else to go, "Hey! I know what that is!" and provide you a tip or two.

Beyond that, it sounds like a corrupted .bic file for the character. Can you play normally from an *even* older save than the one you mentioned with that character? Have you tried that?  Is there, maybe, some equipment he's wearing that prevents spellcasting, like maybe something that reduced his INT, but doesn't show in the character sheet? (sorry, still having my first cup of coffee and I'm straw grabbing here...)
