From the feedback on the other forum, this might be a Tech Issue.

Wizard spells in the # 1-10 spots are darkened and cannot be cast.  My spellbook shows all Learned Spells, up to Level 5, but on the Memorized Spell side, slots 3-5 have vanished.  Only Level 1 & 2 remain.

Neither my Levels or INT have taken a drop.  It's not equipment...

Also, my Wizard won't fight.  He stands next to the bad guy, but won't swing the weapon.  Using the mouse or the drop down menu doesn't work.

Melee is ON....for ALL.

The game is a legal copy and patched.

Have played for over 20 hours without any problems.

Went back to a save game from a few days ago, and the same issues seem to be there.

Any ideas ??  Any hope to save this game....??  Is this likely to happen again if I started another game ??

Thanks

**Spoiler**

Are you in the OC? There is one area in the OC where magic doesn't work...

Of course, that doesn't explain why you can't attack the enemy...

Maybe if you posted some screenshots that would help us understand and help.

What is the OC... I'm in the Oil Well Area. I went back to a save on Highcliff Ruins and magic was greyed out also. It wasn't when I was first there.

I'd be happy to post a screenshot but I don't know how to get it here, on the Forum.... duh....

Little update...............Don't have a "print screen" button, so I bound it to another and "captured screen". Now what?? I can't find the "capture" nor do I know what to do with it when I do.

Thanks

The screen shot shows up in your application folder?

Usually that is c:\\program files\\atari\\neverwinter nights 2\\

Hi... Had already looked in that folder for something referring to... Screenshots... Captured Screenshots... Portraits....Pictures.... and about 100 more.

If you'd like the Screenshot, you'll have to help with a  bit more "how to" information.  Regarding this, I'm clueless....Posted Image

Played 100's of RPG's and never sent a screenshot in my life...

Thanks.....

Check in Documents/NWN2 (no subfolder). At least mine get stored there.

Hi, once you find the screenshots, here is a thread on how to post them here:

Sorry .. the link was even more confusing. I'm having a DUH kinda week... year... Not likely to get a screenshot. If you tell me what you're looking for in a screenshot, possibly I can find it for you.

There's nothing in the Character screen that indicates a problem. All stats are as they were, when Magic and strikes in battle worked.

One change is QuickBar (bottom of screen .. slots 1-10.... all magic greyed out except "Summon Familiar". In the Spellbook, all spells including Level 5 Learned, (left side) but only able to memorize spells to Level 2. (right side) Spell slots levels 3-5 have vanished. They're not even there.

Tried to drag a level 4 spell to the empty right side of the spell book and it didn't work.  Made a funny noise and appeared back on the left side.

All settings in Options are as they were when things worked. Including....Melee ON ...

Thanks

What kind of installation do you have? From disks or Steam, etc.

Where are all your files stored? If you installed from disks, you should have C:\\Program Files\\Atari\\Neverwinter Nights 2 AND C:\\Users\\*YOUR USER NAME*\\Documents\\Neverwinter Nights 2. If you installed from Steam, this becomes a lot more complicated.

Before anything else, make sure your character is not in Parry Mode (that could explain the not attacking problem, which seems separate from the rest).

Does this affect any other character or just your PC? Since you have Level 5 spells, you must have encountered Qara. Add her to your party and see what's up.

Start a new game, create a new character and give him ~50,000 XP with the debug console (see below). This should let you level up immediately to 10th and see what happens.  You can also go directly to the Harvest Brawl and see if you can attack.

Are your Overrides folders empty (there should be two of them, in the locations above)?

Are your UI folders empty (same)?

Are you fully patched?

To use the Console, first select your PC and target him. Hitting the F1 key twice should do this, or you can left-click and right-click on his portrait, or maybe the actual character model depending on your settings.

Then type the ` key. This should be near the top left of your keyboard, between TAB and ESC. That's for an American keyboard, otherwise... we'll cross that bridge if we come to it.

Now a translucent overlay should cover half of your screen. Text you type should appear in it. Type the following commands, hitting enter after each:

debugmode 1
givexp 50000
debugmode 0

You MAY have to capitalize, depending on your version (DebugMode, GiveXP).

Hit ` again and you should be back in the game, ready to level nine times.
