Somebody said they ripped the driving from Midnight Club LA. Kind of makes sense with Franklin's special ability. Cool beans if that is indeed the case. It looks like it, but I won't be able to actually play for a long while to see for myself.ThisOnesUsername wrote...

General question from GTA pros: I've never played any of the GTA games. I loved RDR, though, and have increasingly gotten into open world games, namely Fallout 3/NV. With all the hype and since this is likely the last current-gen AAA title, I'm likely going to pick it up. Any general suggestions/tips for someone who has never played a GTA?

Have fun is my advice. You won't need to play prior GTAs as they are all self-contained, so go for it and enjoy the ride.

I will buy a PS4 if R* doesn't make the PC version till 2015!
@stonbw1, play NFS and something like SW:Battlefront to handle cars and guns properly!

Is there any poker/gambling minigames in this game?

I'm still not sure if I should get it now or wait for the PS4 version. I saw an awesome mission with Michael were he rigs an phone to explode. Boy that was funny in an really gruesome way.

So, this is the scene that all the reviewers are talking about. I admit, it's sick : / Obvious spoilers, so don't watch it if you haven't played the game yet. And do not eat anything if you want to watch it anyway.

Is the torture scene a side mission or part of the main storyline?
#685
Posté 17 septembre 2013 - 05:35
Main. And you can't skip it. You could argue that there is some lesson to be taken from it, being put in the boots of a torturer and all. Getting [probably] fake information that cost some other guy his life.
Mirrors real life in a way. Then again... I just don't know what to think, this is a game where mayhem and indiscriminate killing is part of the charm, and everything is a twisted parody of our own world

@stonbw1, no worries. GTA is something that you can just dive into without having played the other games. Just prepare for silliness, highly questionable morals, and gratuitous violence.
I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive. Past experience dictates I'll have to wait.. oh, 6 more hours for UPS to reach my block. So, for those of you playing, how's it going?
Edit: My copy just arrived. Woot.

GTA V looks like a fancy Sims "for the big boys" to me.
And that is why....

I feel stupid, but I'm wanting more haircut options haha. It's been a lot of fun so far, though. There's so much to do and many laughs already

GTA V is freaking awesome so far. Tennis was a blast, so far the missions have been great, cars are pretty much tanks in that they don't go up in flames after 4-5 big crashes, the music's tippity top, etc etc
But I REAAAALLY need to learn how to resurface. Gaaah.

This game has so much going on its ridic.
Earlier today I rode the skycar to the top of Mount Chiliad, then got on a dirt bike, rode off a platform, jumped off, and parachuted all the way over to the OCEAN.
Then got on a boat that a couple was chilling out on, and rode it across the Pacific, until I stumbled upon a military base.
Instant 4 star wanted level. On a civilian boat. Eff.
Then for about 8 minutes I was chased with absolutely no chance of escape by two or three attack helicopters, God knows how many police boats, and even cops on shorelines.
I decided that since I don't know how to resurface, I might as well drown myself. THEY DID NOT TAKE ME ALIIIIVE!
Still. Need. To learn. How to resurface. /Dietzstylewriting

I imagine I'm just a dummo. I think pressing X on 360 causes you to dive, but hell if I know what brings you back up. I got lucky I think once and it kinda just happened.
