So far really enjoying the game. My only complaint is that the wanted system is a complete bust - its most of the time almost impossible to escape from a 2 star chase.

2 stars... I hope they tone it down a bit with a patch. I don't mind it beign a bit hard, but right now the system is just annoying.

Personally, I can easily escape from a 2 star chase. A good and fast car can help a lot too.

I'm actually finding it very easy to escape from the cops. Just pay attention to the cones, which also factor in line of sight. Drive fast and make quick turns to lose the police cars or.. contrarily, make them stop and get out and then drive away as it slows them down a bit. Perhaps you are also engaging them? I prefer to just simply speed away.

If you also pay attention to the map, you can turn on streets where a cop car isn't approaching. On the highway, you can even slow down a bit if a cop is ahead of you and wait for it to go away.. assuming you lost the ones behind you.

For me, getting away from the cops is difficult. A bit welcomed, though it sucks when you're not trying to break a law but it happens by chance and then the cops are after you.

I remember seeing some guy steal another dude's bike, so I took off after him to get it back to its owner.

While chasing the thief(who was damn good at getting away), a cop nudged me out of nowhere and I instantly started getting chased by the police.

The thief got away with his prize, and I got away from the cops, but still. Damn it.

I was just on a two star boat chase that took a little longer than I would've wanted but I still got away.

I wouldn't mind a patch though, if they feel the need to implement one.

Can someone please tell me if there is a POKER minigame? I tried searching but I am getting conflicting reports.

I personally haven't come across any poker, but can't give a definitive answer as I'm only about 2/4ths into the game and some map icons are still locked.

My weirdest police chase was when I was playing catch with Chop. I chuck it at a nearby building, he goes to get it, and instant 1 star. I steal the nearest car, have Chop hop in, and we drive away for awhile. Once the cops laid off, we went walking around the nicer part of town and I tried watching a movie but it never started. When I left Chop was MIA.

I agree they should tone down the time it takes for it to go away

Re cop chases, how effective is hiding? It seems you can hide out in a corner, under some stairs, etc. etc. and stay out of cops view

Lack of poker minigame - semiconfirmed rumor.

It really depends.  If you're hiding somewhere that is relatively hard to get to and the cops are quite a bit away, then there's a good chance it will work.  Or, if you somehow managed to get to a higher area with the cops still driving around a lower section, then that's also good.

But, if you just decided to abandon your car and run into some alley that isn't very complex, then there's a high chance they'll find you once they pop out of the cars.  It's iffy. I've had times when I drove a good distance away, dropped the car off somewhere, and went to hide in a warehouse type area.. but they still managed to spot me even though the stars were about to fade away.

Honestly, I just drive faaaaar away and then circle back to where I wanted to go afterwards.

Eh, anyone else just not like this game at all?

I honestly don't feel motivated to play it.

I can't believe Johnny went out like that. To do that to a past protagonist. Damn

back in the gta 4 days I would just outspeed the cops.  Now in gta 5  I have found that hiding (which is often as easy as getting behind a building is a pretty good way to lose the cops.  And I get lots of practice hiding from cops when I am playing as Trevor lol.

I'm liking it so far. I have tendency to never finish GTA games either from wandering around too much and losing interest in the storyline or from running across that one mission that just makes me want to throw the controller.  Only had a few of those, but nothing major.

I guess I'l see if I ever do end up finishing the game.

Ended today's session with the flight school training that Trevor suggests Michael undertake.

Kicked my ass a few times in that last race against time. Not that I needed to go that far but I figured I'd do it anyway.

Absolutely incredible so far. It's as if Rockstar took GTA IV (a game I already love, though not without its flaws), fixed everything I didn't like, and made everything else even better. The attention to detail is just ludicrous. I've barely seen any copy-and-pasted buildings, and people react to even the smallest actions. If you spend a bunch of money customizing your car, other people will say things like "Nice Car!" and take pictures of it. There's also far more ambient conversations among pedestrians, so they feel less robot-like than in previous games. Another little detail I like is that police now go after NPCs on occasion, so the police no longer feel like they were made just for the player, helping immersion greatly.

If you've followed my posts before, you'd know that the most immersive games for me are the ones that make the player feel like they're part of the world, rather than the world revolving around them. GTA V succeeds with flying colors in that department. I've rarely played a game set in a world that felt so alive.

And then, of course, there's the missions. I'm only about 1/3 through, but the missions I've done are already far more memorable than most in GTA IV. Even if the game just stopped here, I'd still be satisfied.

My Game of the Generation, and the new gold standard for open world games. Can't wait for GTA Online!

When you're playing a game where you can get pursued by 50 police cars in a tow truck with Eddie Murphy's Party all the Time on the radio, you know you're playing something special.

First rule of GTA V: Do not talk about GTA IV.

Seriously though, that game was garbage.
