GTA V is basically SA: HD, only with one of the most detailed game worlds I've ever seen and three awesome protagonists. HOWEVER, as Rockstar chose to exclude the flying cars cheat from GTA V, I must give SA the totally [un]biased edge. Hopefully it'll be added in a patch.

GTA San Andreas was my favourite before GTA V. Very disappointed with GTA IV, and never bothered to finish the story infortunately. ( Well, I tried it again years after the release of the game, and I finally thought It wasn't that bad. )

The worst is I can't really express why I disliked it. I'd say it's a good game and it just didn't please me in some way personally.

1 billion dollars crossed in three days for GTA V, while it took 15 days for Black OPS 2. So a new reccord for Rockstar.

The first one was 800 million dollars crossed in one day, better than black ops 2 with 500 million dollars.

Well, I'm glad for them, they deserve it. They worked hard.

Yup insane .. 266 millions budget . 300 full time employee (SKyrim had a  team of 100). This is massive. They're one kinds og a game though.

Still GTA online to be released.

I think it would have been better if they had you control at least 1 ''good' protagonist.. Like an FBI agent or something.

Personally, I feel like Franklin is the good guy in the team, but a boy totally lost and trying to get out of the ****. And trying to have a successful life. ( that's the impression I get so far )

But if you mean someone else than a " gangster ", well It would be new for sure.

Yeah. Trevor is the most dangerous and Michael is a grey character with little morality, but he does have limits unlike Trevor. ( Again, the impression I get so far, It might change ) and he cares a lot about his family. Maybe many regrets too.

They didn't. They took San Andreas and updated it with engine that was used in GTA IV, that's it.
GTA IV suffers from repetitive missions, 0 stuff to do, lame protagonist, boring story, variety in missions, humor and fun.

GTA V has none of those issues, it's basically San Andreas with updated graphics.
Which is good since SA was dbest GTA when it comes to "everything you can do in GTA".

Ayup. I feel a bit of sympathy for Michael in that he should be happy with everything he has and yet everything just sucks with his family.  I suppose that's still his fault, though.. same could be said for Franklin in that he has a good motivation to want to get out of his lifestyle, but he's not exactly making the best choice to do so.  Trevor is just insane.

This is encouraging for the industry.  There's been so much commentary that big AAA games won't continue to be made in lieu of quick and cheap cell phone games/apps.  Hopefully, GTA V will remind those companies that big budget games can still be profitable.

Actually, I think that GTA V making a billion dollars in three days could be a bad thing.

Its this kind of success that makes developers and producers think they can make that kind of money with their games. Thats how you get people like Square Enix saying Tomb Raider was not a success even though it sold 5 million copies or something nuts like that.

Its why you had people like Peter Molyneux saying way back when that they were expecting to sell something like 5 million copies of Fable 2. Or was it Fable 3, can't remember.

Its the GTA numbers, the CoD numbers, the Halo numbers, the Elder Scrolls numbers, that get developers and producers thinking they need to shoot for that level of success. They can't get to that level of success though, and the reason is because they mainly just copy and paste what came before, following a safe formula.

I gotta give props to Rockstar, and you know Take Two is really goddamned happy right now(check GTA V's Metacritic rating, its one of the highest rated games of all time), but how this affects the industry going forward? Could be good, could be bad.

Going by trends set prior, I don't think gaming's gonna get better because GTA V was a huge payday.
