I will buy GTA 5 at least for the story, but I'm not expecting the fun gameplay of San Andreas or Vice City to return. Hopefully the Houser brothers have seen their big mistakes with GTA IV, but it seems the serious styling has prevailed.
I'm not really surew they can be called "mistakes" though. Yeah, a lot of people didn't like the more serious tone, but many more did. GTA IV is one of the highest rated, highest selling video games ever made. Why would they deviate?

This coming out on the Wii or something? Those graphics are awful, and so is the lighting. The people look like they're made out of plastic. Red Dead on a visual level looks so much better. It's likely to be the same old boring Rockstar formula with cliche writing and pointless chores. No thanks.
Less cliche then your insults

Whatever. Hope you're up for another episode of 'one guy's boring life'.

Good point.
GTA IV wasn't bad overall, it's just that I found the gameplay to be lackluster compared to previous titles. I loved the story, Niko Bellic is the best written video game character ever made IMO. He was good in part because of the serious tone of GTA IV. But the problem with the serious tone for the story was that it affected the gameplay formula, making it less fun. If they can have a GTA IV serious story blended with the silly gameplay of previous titles, the game will rock.

The GTA IV mod looks better.
Seriously though, Glad we're back at San Andreas.
Way better place than Liberty City.

I'd love for it to go back to the San Andreas style. The customization in that was SIIIIIICK.

This isn't me being a fanboy of GTA, I genuinely feel he is one of the deepest characters in any video game I've played.
His life in Liberty City is defined by the trauma and mistakes he endured during his time as a child soldier during the Yugoslav Wars. I found him to be a very relatable character because he struggles still with the emotional trauma he had to endure years ago, trying to put his past behind him and start fresh. Of course that never works, and he becomes cold and cynical as a result. Having lost both his childhood and happiness during the War, he tries to protect the few things he considers he has left (like his Cousin or his reputation). Darko Brevic and Florian both serve as a way to show Niko's deep seated emotional problems without directly stating Niko's motivations. Niko Bellic is deep, relatable, well written, and all of this is shown through subtle interactions and dialogue during the game without overtly stating the nuances of his character.
I could go on for 10 more paragraphs, but I think I made at least a decent case.

Your wasting your time.
Slimgrin can only see the optional activities you go on with your friends and they hate it so much that thats all the game is to them now.
If Slimgrin does respond it will be the same tired jokes they've been spewing every time GTA is ever brought up in these forums.

And all the driving, my god...steal this car, take this person there, now run from the cops. Some of the worst side missions I've encountered in a game. RPG's get heavily criticized for padding their game with such tripe, and Rockstar gets lauded for it.
I'll quit now.

I poured over 30 hrs into GTA4, the majority being the main missions. First off, the combat controls are abysmal. Secondly, if there is depth to Belic, it never manifested in my time with the game, as he willingly did everything from assassination to car theft to obligatory chauffeur service and dating. A complete dupe. And seeing that it's not an RPG, I had little choice in the matter. From a writing standpoint, there's so many cliche macho mafia guys lifted straight from the cinema, I thought I was watching a perpetual rerun of Good Fellas.

Must of been the most important 30 hours of your life because I haven't seen anyone so hell bent on complaining about it half as much as you do.
Also comparing this to an RPG is unfair... Did you start the game expecting something other than Grand Theft Auto? Of course cars are going to be used a lot.
