It is a graphically pretty looking trailer, but overall I was underwhelmed by it. Still much more interested in Saints Row 3 than GTAV.

Nailed it.

I would much rather play Saints Row than GTA. GTA, ever since the third game, has had this copy pasta attitude about it that is more a burden than an actual free roam game.

I've been playing GTA since GTA 1 and 2 and I like all of them. They're not RPGs and they have lots of driving, thieving and killing. Don't play it if you don't like these works.

Sorry, I'm tired of being last comment of every page.

Also SR is so a dirty Fantasia , GTA still has some reality in it. :bandit:

My problem with GTA IV was that the serious theme that it was trying to capture ruined the fun gameplay and story it was known for. Whether Rockstar might be trying to strike a perfect balance remains to be seen. Until then, Saints Row will have been my sanbox game of choice for the past 5 years. I'm hoping to be pleasantly suprised by GTA V though.

I saw the trailer, and I have to say I am surprised by how amazing it looks. I'm glad it's back in San Andreas, even though I was kind of hoping for Vice City.

**** Niko, get it together.

Actually, that Hobo looks like Niko, because it's a joke.

Michael Hollick(or whatever his name is), made some declarations about how R* paid him too little for what he did, and that guy right there looks like Niko to make fun of that.

I vastly prefer the serious GTA games over SR, so I'm glad GTA V is following in IV's footsteps.

I hope that the realisim will be toned down.
SRTT>GTAV
I prefer man cannons and mollusk launchers over realism.

"I went online like everyone to see the GTA trailer," he responded, when asked if GTA V's trailer would have any effect on Saints Row: The Third preorders, during an investor Q&A session. "As you point out, it's a high quality trailer and I think it's going to be another fantastic game in the GTA series."

"That said, it also shows the completely different positioning of the two games," he continued. "GTA is still serious and character driven - a very different experience."

"It's a totally different positioning," Farrell said. "And if you read the forums it's like 'hey, I love GTA, and I love this game because it's a very different game that knows what it is and is very entertaining.'"

See? Even the makers of Saints Row feel that the petty pissing contest fans of either game feel the need to propagate is pointless, since both are clearly wildly different games.

It really just needs to stop.

Nothing officially confirmed, but apparently the game will only take place in Los Santos (no San Fierro or Las Venturas). This is speculated because of Rockstar's wording on their site.

Either they accidentally left out the part where the guy's wife and kids are murdered and he spends the whole game on some prolonged quest for revenge or it's already sounding better than the last one, the trailer was pretty much angst free!

I'm not opposed to characters and seriousness so long as they remember to add some of the old GTA fun this time, throwing some comic relief characters into an oppressively bleak story isn't the same thing, and to my mind neither is the silliness in Saints Row.

And how are people complaining about the graphics? They look brilliant, I'm not sure what more anyone could expect.

Seriously, from looking at the trailer, it looks like the GTA series has gone downhill. I'm about at a 1 in a scale of 1 to 10 in hyped right now. Looks way too realistic; it's just not the GTA I've known since 3 (forget the old ones they sucked--played them on my PC). Anyways, if I want another sandbox shoot em' down game I'll probably look to SR: 3 instead of GTA: V. I don't want to have to play stupid golf, darts, and tetris in order to progress the game/gain friendships anymore that was just beyond stupid. Saints Row was right for hating on that stupid man-date system. It was a perfect balance in San Andreas because you just had to take out girls, but adding those man-dates was stupid. I like the main character, though, sounds less whiney than Niko. If he is anything like Tommy Vercetti, I'll probably look into getting the game when it goes down.

Just saw what you were referring to. Well...I'm sad now.:crying: At least I can probably find Grove Street and hopefully rob CJ's house.:D

I bet they will open those locations in a DLC/Expansion pack. I hope they don't pull that same bs that they did in GTA: IV where we have the same location with a different story. I was beyond dead bored when I got the Lost and Damned expansion from a friend's PSN. I didn't even glimpse at the Gay Tony one.

I keep hearing this multiple protagonist theory, and I really hope this theory is wrong. I love the focused, character driven narratives that GTA games are known for, and I believe multiple protagonists would ruin this.

I'm not sure how well that'll work out. Why change the formula now?

I think we're more likely to see the former protags in the game a supporting story characters than playable ones. That, I'm all for, but not playing as a bunch. And by the looks of what everyone has pulled out we might see ourselves playing as Tommy again with maybe some of the more recent main characters as backup.

Doesn't look like they're changing the formula much. Why is it obligitory that the hero always has to move to the city at the beginning of the game, anyway?

.....

BUUUUUUUT. This is how all GTA debut trailers are, I know it's gonna blow every other Sandbox game out of the water next year. Especially if they channel more of San Andreas than just the location. BRING BACK GOOD CHEATS ROCKSTAR!!! Flying cars FTW!

*goes on a date*

*goes on a city wide rampage fighting hundreds of cops*

*drives off a sky scraper*

*goes bowling*

*flies a jetpack around while firing oozies*

*drives some more, this time off a mountain but enters a flying car cheat before hitting the ground*

fix'd

And the game is in development. Obviosly those graphics aren't the final product. <_<

I honestly don't see how pixel count has become subjective here. Those are not good graphics. They are on the same level as GTA4, if that. And the lighting is inferior to Red Dead. I was tempted to get Red Dead when I saw the beautiful environments...but then Rockstar hates PC.

Saints Row actually looks fun, a game that doesn't take itself too seriously.
