Totally not worth the effort.

40k more and I'll have the house I want! Then I can go back to frivalous, stupid spending on getting guns and cars and clothes. Guns first. My arsenal is badly dated and completely unupgraded.

NOTES:
-Spend as little time in free mode as possible, and when you are, be driving. You lose up to $2k every time a random douche kills you
-"Protected" mode does not save you from being run over
-The city is much more dangerous than Blaine County, and by dangerous I mean other players
-I've won the plurality of my $$ through races, last place can get you 1k if you actually finish, first can get you upwards of 5k depending on match size
-Deathmatch pay is AWFUL, spare Last Team Standing-almost invariably <1k, even with extra objectives
-Parachuting pay is also AWFUL, but it does seem to be decent if you play with weapons on (1st place got me $3k)
-Survival pay can be good-if you last (I got $18k for losing on round 10 with a three man crew), but survival isn't availible in free mode till level 15
-Bank your money as soon as you get it, there is almost no reason not to. The only thing is some of the contact assistance requires pocket money rather than bank money. There is a big reason to bank though and that is
-YOU LOSE EVERYTHING OVER $5k POCKET CASH IF YOU DIE
-Check your surroundings before you get involved on the phone
-Of all the contacts I've experienced, Simeon has the worst and most time consuming missions-chase down this fast car to one side of the map and back
-Robbing stores is easy and fast, typically pays 1-1.6k, but the heat you get for each one builds up if you rob a few at a time
-You can also hijack cars to sell at Los Santos Customs, but they won't take the top notch cars and the payout varies greatly depending on the model, and each location will only take one car until you do an activity
-In free mode if another player is pursuing you, a good idea is to enter the closest gun store. The owner will open fire if someone marches in armed. If they camp outside, go to a different session

Had a player with a 1K bounty on his head hide in a store and try to kill me from inside.

I was outside with a carbine. He had no chance. But at least he stuck around.

Are they still showing up on Social Club? If so, just keep trying to enter from SP into Online, but *do not* press the retry button if it says the servers are unavailable. Just back out and try again from SP, restart console, or wait till later. If they aren't on Social Club, we're at the mercy of R*.

I'm seeing mixed info from people who called support saying either don't make a new character period or it's okay to use the 2nd slot.  I'm holding out for as long as I can hoping for a patch or something but it's tempting to just restart.

They are also updating this thread with info.

You should Wait. Man i hope my character doesn't get deleted i reached level 96 and getting to that level again will be unbearable.

Yeah, that would be a major pain in the ass. I would suggest you browse the R* Support page to see advice on what to avoid doing.

There's some repeatable mission you can exploit. They're huge pay and take minimal time. I wonder if R' will nerf them. Of coruse if you screw around and take you time and have  just fun... It going to take forever. You need to think like a chinese farmer ! Sweatshop it like a pro !

Depending on what you do, it's not hard to average $3k+ per mission. 

Maybe you should do something other than deathmatches.

Also, I got my apartment. $150k dockside apartment.

Apparently the dockside apartment does not include a personal dock.

And having a dock was the main reason I chose that apartment.

Hey, I don't do Deathmatches, I stopped with missions, now I do Bounty work (It worked when leveling my RDR character) or Repo work.
Otherwise I'm out in the desert gettin mad drunk.
