I suppose I was referring to the commercial success (500 million copies sold), rather than any sort of critical acclaim.

We can go back and look at classic arcade games like Pac-Man and honestly I have no idea, perhaps some of those generated more total revenue in terms of quarters spent or monthly rental fees received from arcades.

Certainly I'm not aware of any past console or PC game ever selling 500 million copies.

Bejeweled has, fyi. Granted it, the game has been around for a while but it's gotten so popular that it's also split out onto consoles, as well as pc and mobile gaming. it also has sequels and spin offs.

Doesn't really matter, sales are a popularity thing. Anyway it's an addictive thing, and portable, so it comes to no suprise that it's that. Better than Call of Duty anyway, that would have killed me if it said that xD

Not sure how a person's decision to spend a buck on an app game is supposed to be vindication for the usual casual misanthropy. It's not like a dollar goes very far. I see no reason why the fact that some people put greater value in the alleviation of boredom Angry Birds provides than the opportunity cost of a dollar should be so outrageous. Particularly if that stat includes the amount of downloads of the Android version, which is free...
