Yeah, because they didn't take out anything for ME2. Sadly for you, I can deny it, because what you call exploration, I call LINEAR 5-15 minutes misions. Conversations, Imported saves and other things? Yeah, Conrad and lots of Emails. All that is confirmed for ME3? Combat (and here goes weapon, armor and skills too), Kinect and MP are the confirmed features, the rest isn't.
Simple, look at the most rated comments on the video posted in this thread. It's you who can't deny that there are lots of people that don't like the direction EA/Bioware is taking with it's marketing.
So, you're saying ME 1 exploration was so great? Please.
And you're saying that we won't have conversations and imported saves? That's sheer stupidity.
And I'm gonna go out and say that, Mass Effect is not a clone of Gears of War. That's just utterly idiotic.
Please, just please, learn to read.
1- I never said that. I talked about ME2 so called "exploration".
2- Again, I never said that, I said I want to see how BW handles that.
3- When did i say "ME3 will be a GoW-Clone" ?
Aridor1570, you seem to be sure they will show all that. Let's hope that you're right then. But from the 5 months of "info" they released so far, all is about combat.

The thing is, things like exploration aren't essential to the game. They're nice, sure, and I'd rather have it than not, but its not really needed. That said, I do kinda miss it from ME1 - not the identical buildings or the lack of anything to really do on the uncharted worlds, but just that feeling that I could go off and land on a random planet. If its not in ME3 I won't be upset, but at the same time I'd rather it was there.Leaser Resael wrote...

Tell me, what do you count as exploration? exploring the galaxy for uncharted planets, or exploring a small map that no matter which way you take you'll have the same ending?
If uncharted planets had things to be discovered, misions or stories to complete, that would count as exploring. I think you asked that thinking that I want ME1 style of "Exploration", which I never said I want. But ME2 "Exploration" just doesn't exist. I said I wanted to see how ME3 Exploration is going to be since Bioware told there will be exploration in the game. If they would release a video showing exploration, conversations, a little side mision, some weapons, armors and skills customization. The people would stop complaining. But they didn't and I bet that like I said, in the next BW pulse ep, they will only show weapons, armors and skills. That's the problem. Everything showed is focused on combat, and again, that's something you can't deny.
Combat however is needed. It is the fundamental underlying gameplay mechanic - like it is for all RPGs. Without the combat you have no challenge and no game - just a series of interactive cutscenes linked by a lot of walking. Games need some kind of challenge, and that only really comes from combat, puzzles or competition (as in sports games). The combat is the absolute, basic underlying gameplay mechanic and it should be as good as possible. Bioware feel they've improved it, so they should show it off as much as possible. I'd like the RPG stuff to be good as well - it really adds to the game - but the combat is what really needs improvement. Stuff like story and characters have already been nailed by Bioware imo.

1. On exploration, you referenced ME 2 and only ME 2. I concluded you thought ME 1's exploration was better.
2. You said those features were still, not confirmed. And obviously, the conversations will still be handled in a similar, if not the same way. As the dev's have stated decisions will have big impacts, but we really don't want spoilers do we?
3. That was not directed towards you.

No offense, marketing, but this "trying to get the shooter crowd" is becoming more apparent.
Instead of doing a "See, the Gears of War guy likes it. So you should too!", shouldn't Mass Effect 3 be more marketed as it's own thing? Like a Shooter/RPG? You know, like how Uncharted is advertised as an adventure game/shooter? Instead of being marketed to try and grab a different market from a different series as the objective?
I'm just saying, as is, ME3 is more of being marketed as "Shooter just like other shooters", and not "Shooter like no other shooter".
thats becasues you and me have already bought ME3. they know that they could do zero marketing for me and you, becasue were gettign the game no matter what. this current marketing trend with ME3 is for everyone except me and you.
or maybe ME3 will be extremely dissapointing to me and you, and everyone else would be happy with gears of space.

"The Mass Effect Demo is beautiful."

"I think Commander Shepard is one of the best iconic characters in video game history."
didnt hear hear a word about how great the combat is................................
I've come to a definite conclusion about combat.
What if ME3 is nothing but a run-and-gun shooter?
Good.
The Reapers, through their proxies, committed massacre on Eden Prime. They forced my Shep to leave Ashley Williams to her death on Virmire. Shep’s been forced to slay thousands by his own hand, with thousands more through the actions he’s led. He’s a monster to the whole Batarian species and considered a traitor by some at home.
Reaper actions forced my Shep to kill the indoctrinated mother of his lover before her very eyes. Now they want to kill Liara too, and everyone else.
He’s seen the Prothean visions. He knows what they were. He’s seen what the Reapers turned them into.
The Reapers’ minions killed him. He’s only here because he cheated death. They melted thousands of human beings, including one who died pleading with a helpless Shep to save her. My Shep still has nightmares about that.
The man my Shep was is gone. He’s become something of an angel — a steely-eyed bringer of God’s justice upon the wicked. He was always ready to kill. We was always able to kill. Now he wants to kill.
If Balak the terrorist showed up with a workable plan to kill a Reaper by slamming an asteroid into it, my Shep would gladly work with him.
If dying would rid the galaxy of the Reapers, he’d go for good this time.
You people only talk about role-playing. I'm there. I'm not playing any more. This stopped being a voyage of self-discovery or the weaving of an heroic tale a long time ago for Cmdr. Frank Shepard, the Earth-born orphan who only joined the service to get out of the hole he was in. This can only end with either the death of every Reaper or of all space-faring intelligent life in the galaxy.
There is killing to be done. My Shepard's ready.

I just decided to log onto facebook to see if I got a message from my friend and I noticed that Bioware was given codes for Gears of War DLC.
I knew there was a reason I liked Gears of War.
I have to be honest, if I hadn't already played Gears of War, this news would actually sway me to at least check it out.

Again, did Cliff want to advertise and Bioware said yes, or did Bioware go to him to advertise?
To be honest, I think his GF dragged him to our booth at San Diego Comic Con. While he was there, after they had both played teh demo, he offered to leave the video feedback.
Well, if he actually did put out the offer, then I got less to complain about.
However, that doesn't change that ME3 seems more of being advertised as a Resistance/Gears of War/Save Earth from Aliens clone, while aiming more towards the shooter market.
When are we going to see class vids?
When are we going to see character vids?
When are we going to see vids on the story?
It's NOVEMBER.
Secondly, wouldn't that spoil certain things?
Sincerely if you've played the first two games, or even just one -- unless you lack total common sense you should generally have a decent idea on the classes, characters and what the story pertains.
You're probably right about what ME3 is being advertised as, because guess what? This game is ultimately about saving the galaxy and that's done by fighting/shooting. I know what you're trying to say, but in the same vain this is where the path ends.
I'm a huge fan of the Mass Effect story, I love the dialog wheel (it's actually what I find most interesting) but for me, as I only speak for myself. If the combat is crap, I can't enjoy the game, hell I won't finish a game.
I played all the Gears games, while those games stories can't hold a candle to Mass Effect, they certainly had a great cover system and shooting gameplay. I've seen the videos for ME3 and I love how they've improved it vastly.
This is a good thing, only way this is bad in regards to combat is if you simply suck at third-person shooting.
Or maybe we should just wait until March, you know when we can actually play the entire game. I'll file my complaints or gripes (though I'll unlikely have any) once I'm finished.

Everything currently just makes ME3 look like a standard shooter, where you play a marine trying to save Earth from aliens. With explosions and action. That is most likely what everyone who hasn't played or heard of a ME game is thinking.
What's special about this? What's in these trailers that's going to grab them?
Like someone already said, they already got us. So what is it about these vids that are support to get new people?
Because all I think these trailers are doing, is saying "We're just like other shooters" and not "We're a shooter like no other".
And for those who say, it's November, ME2 had this in August, and ME2 was to be released in at the end of January.
Here they advertise a new hub world to explore, and a new character, and action.
This in September:
And these in May and June.

Agree. Gears' gameplay (especially in 3) is like polished diamonds. Epic has become the gold standard for TPS cover-based mechanics. They might be paper thin in story, but they are an ocean deep in gameplay.
