So I was reading this article, and I found myself noticing a pattern between this guys perspectives and so many of the same arguments being made right here on this very forum.  I thought to myself, perhaps these people here who complain constantly might need to read this.  Sure, I don't agree with everything he says, and the humor is so-so at times (he misrepresents Mass Effect, for example), but I found it interesting.

Here it is: www.cracked.com/blog/5-ways-to-tell-youre-getting-too-old-video-games/

Old Artical is old, also not one of the best writers on that site.

There were some good humorous points in the article but it was quit pompous, in my opinion.

I didn't even read it. If I ever make it that far, I still intend to be playing video games.

Eh I feel like I am getting too old for videogames, but not because games are childish or anything, but because I suddenly find myself lacking the time to play them :(

That article was stupid. Seriously, that list makes no sense. The only reason I feel that I'm too old for games is because every year my time to play video games shortens. Wow, we are too old for games because we want the depth of Planescape Torment and the combat system of Fallout. I don't know if anyone in this website even says that games are too long. They are too short in my opinion. I remember playing Fallout: 2 for two years and, no lie, Age of Mythology and Rome: Total War for like 3+ years. I got close to the same length, though, from Fallout: New Vegas, but only because of the DLC.

The only one too determine when you're too old for it...is you. No one can tell you objectively that you're too old for the medium.

With age comes responsibility, mostly work but sometimes university or something similiar.

If we need to learn and study our whole life, we are allowed to play our whole life.

We are never to old for something until we we close our mind and heart for creativity and fantasy. And in my eyes - then we are dead.

I will be to old to play video games and enjoy myself and life when I am dead, and not one second before. You are as old as you feel and think you are, And any pompus ass that trys to label it otherwise is an idiot.

Just read the article and well, I can totally relate to this author - and I'm not even an old fart, I'm ''only''' 22.

I believe the author was referring to mental age and experience with the medium as opposed to physical age.  Basically, the main culprits on this list are often related to age, but not always.  Nostalgia, jadedness, and overall close-mindedness as well as the most obvious factor: time, are what he's referring to.  Like I said, I don't agree with everything he said, but most of it was pretty on the money.

I wonder what the average age of a user is on this site? I might make a poll.

Thats John Cheese for you.  He wants to ****** off his readers.  He finds it funny for some reason.

I had read this a while ago and was happy to see that I am not too old.

Sounds like that bloke should quit playing. The only point i agreed on was multi player and also for the same reasons. I used to think it was funny to wind young teenagers up online but now its just too much of a distraction as i have limited play time.

Feeling Old =/= Lacking time. Lacking time happens to everyone regardless of age.

Can relate to those points definitely. The ones about the length of games (I'd rather play a shorter game that was fun every hour of play than a long drawn out epic) and storylines feeling inferior especially.

I think I'm falling out of love of JRPGs in particular, which is sad. Probably doesn't help that the last ones I played were FFXIII and FFX-2 though!

A lot of people I know always poke fun at me for playing those lengthy games on the easiest mode. Reason is because I don't have time to focus on being all epic. This is especially the case with RPGs. At this point I'm mostly in it for the story. Unless it's a game I find myself playing constantly, I always switch the gameplay to easy mode so I can quickly get through the lengthy games. I just don't have a lot of free time these days, but I certainly wont give up gaming because I still enjoy it.

And I am also falling out of love with JRPGs as well. In fact the few JRPGs I have left are the Shin Megami Tensei Persona games.
