Hi everyone,

Thanks to your help and that of our private beta group, we've been able to track down and correct the excessive area load times and GUI slowdowns that some users with DirectX10-era video cards were reporting with our previous public beta of Patch 1.05. Please click here to download the updated Patch 1.05 BETA install file [LINK REMOVED - The official 1.05 patch is now available from our Patch Page. You can discuss it here.]

Note that we continue to encounter one remaining authentication issue regarding the Blood Dragon Armor not appearing under the current 1.05 BETA. We're working on it and hope to release an official 1.05 patch once that issue has been successfully addressed.

Q: Can Steam users apply the 1.05 BETA patch?
A: The Steam service unfortunately doesn't support BETA patches. However, all PC/Mac users who have registered their game automatically receive free access to the full-game download via EA's Origin service. If they wish, users who have purchased the game through Steam can uninstall their Steam version and replace it with their Origin version, thereby gaining access to the 1.05 BETA patch. Once the patch is no longer in BETA and sees an official release, Steam users will be able to access it via Steam's normal patching process.

Here are the current 1.05 patch notes for your perusal.:

------------------------
Dragon Age: Origins 1.05
------------------------

//General Fixes//

DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT
- Downloadable content will properly authenticate once installed.

PERFORMANCE
- Fixed an issue where some users with DirectX10-era video cards were
experiencing significant lag within menus and interfaces as well as sudden
spikes in area load times.

//Dragon Age: Ultimate Edition Fixes//

INSTALLATION
- The Ultimate Edition installer for the EA Download Manager (EADM) version of
the game was placing the CD-Key in the wrong location in the Windows registry.
EADM has been replaced with EA's Origin system and this error has been corrected
in the new Origin installer. For those who purchased and installed the Ultimate
Edition via EADM, the Patch 1.05 installer will copy that CD-Key into the
correct Windows registry location.

Enjoy,
Rob

Just a quickie - if someone's already installed the previous beta can they install this one over it or do they need to have the 1.04 patched daorigins.exe file back in place (either a back-up or via re-installing the game) before installing the new beta patch?

Just applying the patch and noticed that an error trying to patch the Uninstall Dragon Age.exe - Error opening file for writing - just Ignored as I could not find the file on my HDD. Rcv'd patch notes, and Setup completed. Shows as v1.05 in the config screen. No issues with loading screens yet, the lag that was there for conversations has been eliminated, but have only run the game for 30 mins at this time. No issues with loading old saved games.

@Furtled - I was able to patch over the original v1.05 with no issues or need to rollback.

I will update any findings as I get them.
And once again a HUGE "Thank You!" to you and the team to continue your support!
It is GREATLY APPRECIATED & RARELY ACKNOWLEDGED, but you have my personal gratitude and sincere heartfelt thanks!!
Cheers!

Thanks for the update!

Do you know yet if TransGaming will port 1.05 for Mac OS X?

so does this mean 1.05 is offically out? i cant wait, cause once its offically out that means it'll take 2 weeks to get onto steam. Origin service wont work for me, so i cant wait for 1.05 to be offical!

@Furtled - the 1.05 beta (old and new) is a pure executable change and can be applied directly to 1.04 or the previous 1.05 beta. No need to revert.

@CanuckDAge - Thank you. We'll look into the uninstaller error.

@StoneTheCrow & Elemntialomnicron - this continues to be a beta patch. The final version of 1.05 is not yet out. We'll hand it off to TransGaming and Steam once it is.

@ForgottenWarrior - We identified some critical failings in the authentication system for Dragon Age: Origins and decided to make that our priority. Those playing the Awakening expansion or the Ultimate Edition will also benefit from these fixes.

Интересный патч, жаль бета, очень жду окончательный вариант. С бетой время сохранений и загрузок выросло
А когда планируется 1.06 с исправлениями багов пробуждения и остаточных багов Начала?

@Rob - This iteration of 1.05 seems to have sorted out the area load time issue.  Thanks!

Out of scope for this patch.  It's been said repeatedly that 1.05's purpose is to address DLC authentication issues.

Literally visited the forum to make a post about the very issues the new version fixes. Fantastic. Thanks very much!

There's an extensive list of community fixes here with notes on any compatability issues, I know it's not exactly what you're after but they do work and Bioware have said they may bundle them into an official type patch in the future.

By that do you mean it fixed the load time issue that was in the game prior to 1.05 or just the extra load time caused by the beta patch? -Does the game still have a load time issue at all?

I'm assuming this is not at all related to the CPU issue where having more than two cores set in process affinity can cause the game to crash?

Sorry, should have been more specific.  Yes, it's at least as good as pre-1.0.5 now.  Doesn't mean everything's fixed.

*hugs everyone and lets out a tear* we're....we're almost there guys, just a little bit further and then we can play our game normally.

If we've gotten this far with the patch, im thinking a good playable version of dragon age origins will finally be here within the next 5-6 months, perhaps.

Game was fine prior to downloading previous 1.05 patch. Then got slowdowns and also echo of dialog in cut scenes as well as some crackling noise.
Had the same fault as CanuckDAge on previous and revised patch install so also ignored it. Thought it had sorted the in-game problems but alas not.

I downloaded this version of DA:UE from EA's Origin, not sure if taht makes a difference?

Any thoughts?

Sorry, never usually post on forums hence the double entry.  Not sure how to include quote separate to my own text.

Just wanted to say that the new patch (1.05b ver 2) is working very well, so far. Only noticeable complaint remaining is the Blood Dragon armor disappearance, which is already a known quantity. If there are further problems, I haven't found them yet. Just glad I can now play the rest of the game without the horrible slowdown. Big thanks to the persistent DA:O team.
