Yeay! Thanks Bioware!

Now I can play DA at max settings on my nice new computer, rather than at min settings on my old laptop with the cracked screen :)

By that do you mean it fixed the load time issue that was in the game prior to 1.05 or just the extra load time caused by the beta patch? -Does the game still have a load time issue at all?

Some aspects of this issue appear to have been introduced in 1.04 but were greatly accentuated by the earlier 1.05 beta. The current beta addresses the root of the problem in both cases.

As a general rule of thumb, area loads on a min-spec computer should stay under 60 seconds. They'll be well under that in most cases.

PERFORMANCE
- Fixed an issue where some users with DirectX10-era video cards were
experiencing significant lag within menus and interfaces as well as sudden
spikes in area load times.

I'm assuming this is not at all related to the CPU issue where having more than two cores set in process affinity can cause the game to crash?

Your assumption is correct. This is an unrelated issue.

Game was fine prior to downloading previous 1.05 patch. Then got slowdowns and also echo of dialog in cut scenes as well as some crackling noise.
Had the same fault as CanuckDAge on previous and revised patch install so also ignored it. Thought it had sorted the in-game problems but alas not.

I downloaded this version of DA:UE from EA's Origin, not sure if taht makes a difference?

Any thoughts?

Thanks for your report, Gamerdad. Am I understanding this correctly?
  • So your game was fine under 1.04.
  • You downloaded the original 1.05 beta, ran into some installer issues as per CanuckDAge, and then started experiencing slowdowns and audio issues.
  • You downloaded the updated 1.05 beta, ran into the same installer issues, and the slowdowns and audio issues remain.
Can you describe your slowdown issues? The specific ones we encountered and addressed with this updated beta were in area loads and user interfaces.

Also, this is the first we've heard of any audio issues related to 1.05.

If you revert back to 1.04, does everything clear up again? Does it recur when you re-apply the 1.05 beta?

Thanks,
Rob

When moving around sometimes everything is fine then movement slows right down, sometimes will hear a slight crackle too. During combat things almost come to a standstill but will eventually play through. Area loads have never really been that bad, initially downloaded the patch to solve authorisation issues which it did but the above issues then began.

I take it that to revert back to 1.04 I will have to uninstall and re-install the game or is there an easier way? I will be happy to do it whichever way if it helps sort the problems.

@GamerdadJase

It sounds like your slowdowns and audio are separate from what we've been finding and addressing in 1.05.

The 1.05 beta is just an executable change so you should be able to just replace the executable with the one from 1.04 (provided you made a backup).

If you didn't make a backup, Patch 1.04 is still available from http://social.biowar...page/da-patches and you should be able to just re-run the installer.

Let us know how you fare,
Rob

I was told by customer service that I'm suppose to uninstall the game and this patch, that it is not suppose to be used, the EA customer service is terrible, so basically they are saying that Rob is posting unofficial patches that we are not suppose to use. This guy "Ashok" from customer service is an idiot and has no idea what hes talking about. EA has the worst customer service that I've ever had the unpleasant experience of dealing with.

Well, customer service *has* to tell you that.  ver. 1.05 has not been officially released, so it isn't officially supported.
As Rob clearly noted: "It's a BETA patch." So use at your own risk!  :o
(And if you don't know what a BETA version is, then you shouldn't be messing with it. )

Awesome, that is great then. Now I just have to wait for this semester to end. :pinched:

Authorization issues were all gone once the patch was downloaded. It has been a while since I played Origins so my memory maybe a bit fuzzy, but, whenever I load a save file upon booting up the game it seems to take a little longer than any other load time. I mean when I click resume or load from the main menu.

Have experienced long load times randomly throughout Orzammar after playing the game for a few hours.

I'd like to mirror this as well.  I just recently started a new game, and after installing the updated 1.05 patch, the lag went away.  But I have noticed that it has returned after reaching Orzammar.  I can't say for sure if its only in Orzammar, but it seems to be.  Dust Town has currently been the worst.

Rolled back to the 1.04 patch as Rob suggested, but wouldn't run at all. Error message saying to uninstall and re-install the game. Went back to the revised 1.05 patch. Now runs but with the same problems as before. Disappointing as it really spoils the playing experience.

Looking like I'll have to download again and reinstall although from what I've read on other threads this brings it's own problems with auth codes not being accepted twice.

Weird, I've had the worst of mine in the Diamond Quarter.

Can I assume it's on your todo list? Obviously not this patch but in the future?

Betas are normally unsupported.  When you use a beta, you are part of the testing process.

Release this already! I'm so friggin sick of the game crashing and steam is utterly useless because it removes all options of rolling the game back to previous versions. You still sell the damn game so you should still support the bloody thing.

I installed DAO from CD on a new machine after not having played for at least a year. I believe I patched to 1.04 and d'loaded the DLC I had before. My game ran fine but kept seeing warnings about DLC. Researched and found this thread. Installed 1.05 beta patch and DLC issues gone. Problems with some mods took several restarts to resolve. No slow downs but have not gone to Orzammar yet. Thank you for the fix but in truth there is a track record with EA/Bioware of tech and server problems taking way too long to resolve. Hope this improves going forward as customers deserve as much. Looking forward to ME3 and then DA3.
