Shepard is already immortal, he is obviously a descendant of Chuck Norris. The real question is what is Shepard going to do with the rest a of eternity. B)

What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.

I hadn't even considered that. The reapers are surely doomed. :o

Nanotech and genetic modifications can offer few additional hundreds of life. Greybox can offer 'immortality' for Shepard's knowledge, cloning can offer 'immortality' for Shepard's body.
But in ME universe only Reapers can offer true immortality, but live together with millions of other minds in some shell with oversized ego is not the immortality I'd like to have.

Shepard the legend- that's easy, my "awesome ending" for the series already has this as its centerpoint. Shepard is presumed dead but he continues flying around in the Normandy. He adopts a modified version of the Death Mask and becomes a faceless armored warrior. The galaxy isn't sure whether it's the original Shepard or something else but eventually they accept him as the Shepard associating not his face, but his helmet as his visage. He becomes a symbol. At this point you have options once the biological man dies. Either a successor adopts the armor and continues the fight. Or a synthetic programmed with a combination of Shepard greybox, VI geth programs (provided they are willing to donate some specific to this cause) and possibly a true AI component continues in the armor same as the series of successors. I tend to call this the Space Batman.

Unlike of most of people here I cannot imagine Shepard building house/raising blue children/whatever. I think Shepard is one of those people who cannot stay on one place for long and die in bed from old age.
P.s. Space Batman vacancy is already taken.

All s/he needs is plot armor. But what is the fun of being immortal? Seems very sad...of course, I've been playing Lost Odyssey recently, so maybe that's shaping my opinion.

get the extreme bad ending and have it revealed that the one of the newest reapers made from the current species is human and says "I am the Shepard of your path to ascension!" or some such line.
BAM instant immortality as a reaper able to continue his path of destruction unless the next generations of species is able to defeat the reapers.

Oh please. If you're referring to Garrus, that's just a fad. Besides he's small time compared to what I'm describing. In my ending he just becomes top Spectre. Also "Space Batman" is just a convenient handle for the concept I'm referring to. No one in ME is actually called Space Batman. Though it would be cool...

Not exactly the most creative thought, seeing as it is a part of the series already, but if Shepard was already dead as dead could be and just meat and tubes [as Jacob explained it] then why wouldn't he be able to be brought back through Lazarus again? Everything would technically be the same as before, the only difference is less amount of time because most of the body would (hopefully) still be intact. Some more cybernetics would probably be needed to adjust to age increases but that's a given.

BTW If this was already stated I apologize, I probably just overlooked it by mistake.
