If BioWare's online store is sold out you can order it from Gamestop.com. I just saw this morning that they're offering this model as a preorder and the Cerberus variant as well.

Bek, that's the one I have. The quality is fine, nothing spectacular but its a nice little ship. It seems sturdy, but things will definitely break off if it gets dropped. Comes in a nice box, and a simple stand. But like I said, it comes with a code to redeem to register, but it says it's not recognized. I don't know what the benefit to register would be, it just says that I'll receive information and updates about the mass effect universe.
As for being sold out, they had a cerberus version too which may still be available. I'm sure they will restock it at some point in the future. Definitely nice though

I preordered two but haven't received them yet. Is it diecast metal or plastic? Or both?

Aside from that yeah, there's a code that came with it that I can't redeem (It has the classic Sheploo and ME3 logo on it)

I'm really thinking of getting a Normandy replica. I love collectible stuff like that.
