Didn't you read me ? Morrigan can be killed by Flenneth.

Unless Bioware doesn't care about our choice in the game or this is bug, there is not alot f chance to see Morrigan again unless she will be Flenneth 2.0.

Choices are put in many games, not all have meaning however. In BG Imoen could be killed at anytime, however in BG2 she was there. To tell a story, writers eventually have to make a decision on where it's going to lead, often that means certain things are made canon and the choice that was in the last game is ignored.

Morrigan like it or not was a big part of DA, chances of her being killed by Flemeth like it says in the epilogue being a fact in DA2 are almost nonexistant.

Just for arguments sake, could Morrigan simply not do a Flemmeth, with the Grimoire gift and finding the route to a longer life, it opened the door for that to be a possibility for those who killed her off on any of there characters for her to make a return in such a  way being as she is trained & desired by Flemmeth before joining the PC group. I've not killed her in any of my playthroughs yet so am unsure how consistant an argument that could be.

I would prefer to see Morrigan and her daughter appear in the sequel, rather than as DLC.

But.. isn't the DLC all taking place before Morrigan's baby/before she'd leave/etc? At least that's what the DLC save says. Or I have my timing confused?

Maybe a DLC uncovering more infos about Morrigan's ritual, if they could build a DLC out of that, would be something to consider. 'Crawl the creepy blood magic dungeon and uncover the cryptic foreshadowing clues of the dragon baby you, alistair, or loghain may or may not help create in the very near future!.. Oh, but you don't know that yet!' And if you bring Morrigan, she can...uhh cough and look coy? :P I guess that's hardly satiating the more-morrigan want. And the demon baby is /totally/ gonna be a daughter, boys.

There are a few of the origins companions and characters I'd love to see crop up in future campaigns or expansions or whatever... Morrigan would be one to see again, if not the only one. It's sort of been 'confirmed' by the writer-dude various times, hasn't it? She'll at least be /mentioned/ later on. Which is more than you may be able to say for Teagan!

Just as a question, let's say you romanced Morrigan and you *did* chase after her once the story is over. What would you expect to happen if you found her?

I find it hard to believe that you would honestly expect a reunion where you run towards each other across a field of grass, arms open to sweep each other up? Morrigan says, "you found me, you big silly! I know I told you to never come after me, but I was totally wrong!" And then you go off to raise your demon baby in a nice cottage with a white picket fence?

Or you think that, having found her, she will answer questions for you then? Do you intend to offer child support, what? I know that you were hoping for something *more* -- but that's part of the point. I obviously have my own ideas on where the story will go, but now I'm just really curious as to what sort of romantic reunion is being pictured here.

Making a DLC for one choice in the game that not everybody made is not something I would like to see done, regardless of the choice.

I want DLC where they include the missing options where you're able to knock Morrigan down a peg or two. As it stands now, it's like

Morrigan: [disparaging remark with any number of easily countered points]

PC: [- You're right Morrigan

- Morrigan, you are awesome

- Meanie :(]

Okay. I'll take a crack at this, if only for fun...

PC Origin: Human Mage/Arcane Warrior/Blood Mage, having romanced Morrigan; She has had your child.

5 years after the game ends, you continue to search for your lost love. You made 2 kings, saved the Circle, the Elves, and killed an archdemon all in one year, yet it's been half a decade and still she has managed to evade you. The hunt has been exhausting to the point of madness. Your once-allies have all fallen by the wayside. King Alistair and Anora his Queen rule Ferelden in tandem, his optimism and her practicality guiding the nation into a time of hopeful prosperity following the Blight. But darker tides approach Ferelden...

Wynne stayed on to advise the new king for a time. She died 2 years ago, having imparted a sense of justice and equality in Ferelden's ruling body toward Mages. Her position as High Magus, advisor to the King, has been granted to another mage from the Tower, a young prodigy whose carefully-masked ambitions may spell doom for the new respect the Circle has received in recent years.

Sten returned to his homeland almost immediately, his sword in-hand and his pack filled to bursting with pastry recipes. When asked about the latter, he would not speakon the subject.

You parted company with Liliana in Haven 9 months after you were named Hero of Ferelden. While she was willing to follow you for a time, she remained torn between her desires for peace and adventure. As your obession with finding Morrigan became increasingly evident, Liliana saw in you what madness would be found in the search for excitement. She left for Andraste's Temple, rebuilt by the Chantry, and was gravely injured when the temple was destroyed. While her body is permanently damaged, her spirit remains strong. She prays for you nightly, pleading with the Maker to give you strength to resist both the love spell Morrigan surely placed upon you and the insanity of the Taint gestating within you.

Your last conversation with your friend King Alistair was a year ago when he swore you had been posessed by Morrigan as surely as if she were a demon of the Fade. Believing the Taint within you had weakened you to her madness, and in an attempt to save you from yourself, Alistair dispatched a phalanx of Templars from the Chantry to bring you in.

You slaughtered 49 of the 50 men sent against you. The last you spared to take a message back to your former fellow Grey Warden: "Remember who made you, King of Ferelden." Your noble friend the King sought only to aid you, but in so doing has turned you into a fugitive of both Church and nation. Anora, whose keen mind foresaw this inevitability, did nothing to prevent it. She has hated you for years, and the chance to drive a wedge between the throne and theso-called Hero of Ferelden was a welcome one.

Shale left 2 years ago, returning to Orzimmar when one of Bhelen's emissaries requested her pesence. She went to guard the new Dwarven King, taking the request as a sign of honor. In truth he used her as a symbol of progress, vowing she was the first of a new group of Golems with Free Will. But Bhelen was always one to hedge his bets. Even as he paraded Shale as a symbol of the future, he secretly had a new control rod fashioned for her. Few know of its existence, or if he has ever used it.

Ironically it was the Antivan assassin who remained at your side longest. In truth this was due entirely to the fact that he had nothing else pressing, and was amused by your obsession with the witch. After helping you kill Alistair's Templars, Zevran finally voiced his concern, stating that there are so many in the world to warm one's bed, why hunt one who is clearly so unwilling to be found?

You simply narrowed your eyes, nodded and walked off sadly. The former assassin did not follow.

So it is down to you and your trusty Mabari hound Krom. Krom is the only one who has never judged you. He is the only one still by your side. And as you stand outside the Korkari Wilds with him, it occurs to you that the last 5 years have taken a toll. You began your search here in the Korkari. When that yeilded nothing you heard something about Morrigan from the Frostbacks. Following rumor after rumor you have crossed much of the known world, always with the same result: Nothing. It seemed Morrigan would never allow herself to be found, even when you could occasionally feelher regret and longing for you.

But the child, it seems, has become your trail of bread crumbs. As the child has grown into its power, you have begun to see him in dreams. Like the dreams from the Archdemon, you followed the boy's psychic casting-out. You've spoken with him a number of times over the last months, and now know he and his mother are here in the Wilds. You've also stopped wearing Morrigan's Ring, since you're fairly certain she's been keeping a step ahead of you via its power from the beginning. The ring remains precious to you, and is currently held in a magically-warded box in your pack to prevent her feeling its presence.

The boy, your son, has been frightened recently by several attacks from Darkspawn, who have also been drawn to the child by the dreams. Morrigan has returned to the Wilds -- her place of Power -- in an effort to defend against them.

As you step into the Forest, you steel yourself for a fight. You would gladly aid Morrigan against the Darkspawn as she aided you so long ago. But you know her well, and likely her pride would never allow her to ask it of you. Or perhaps she seeks to use the boy to ensnare the Darkspawn under herself... But that doesn't sound like Morrigan, really, or so you hope. Perhaps all this was really to try and redeem the spirit of the Old God, now in your son, from the Taint. Whatever the answers might be, they await within the Wilds.

-----------------------

So you battle through the Korkari Wilds., hound at your side, through hordes of giant spiders, attacking trees, wolves, and bears. Eventually you face Morrigan herself, and in the calm of a break in the battle, you call out to her "We need not do this, Morrigan! I'm not here to harm you!"

She looks tired. Raising a child isn't easy, especially on your own, and being always on the run makes it that much worse. "I warned you, Warden! I told you not to follow me! 'Tis no chance encounter that brings you here today. I sent my son to draw you to me, in this place, that I can end your dogged hunt for me once and for all!"

The battle is long and exhausting. You send Krom to find the boy early on; maybe the sight of her son will soften Morrigan's heart. Krom has yet to return.Thankfully you know her well, and came prepared for her cold spells. Your armor is enchanted to resist her...

But eventually, over an hour into the fight, you realize your heart is not. This is the woman you loved, once, not so very long ago. And as you battle against her, all the familiar spells and battlecries you once took comfort in having at your back are now levied against you. And it occurs to you, she killed you 5 years ago. Answers or not, right or not, you loved her. And she loved you. Surely she had her duty as well... You had to fight the Archdemon, and she felt just as strongly that she had to have this child. You don't know the full breadth of her plan, and the fact that she felt she couldn't trust you with it hurts worst of all.

Maker damn you, you love her still.

You cast Force Field around yourself and reach into your pack. She watches, pain and anger burning sharp lines into her perfect face as she downs a health poultice and casts a handful of spells in preparation of resuming the battle. "You're holding back, Warden," she says, and her voice is milk and honey. "I can tell. You can't kill me, and I can't let you take my son. This will be the end of one of us."

"Is that what you think this is about?" you ask, unfastening your enchanted gauntlets. "Morrigan, I'm not here to take the boy. I... I want to know him. He's my son! But I'm here for you. I just... I want to be with you. Whatever you're doing out here, with OUR son... I want to be part of it. I want to protect you both. If I can find you, others can as well. I can sense the Darkspawn as they seek him out. They're moving all the time now. I can tell."

"I..." she hesitates for a moment. Fireballs and arrows she was prepared for, but honest emotion was always outside her element. The hesitation doesn't last. "No! You were a useful tool. A means to an end. And the boy is too important to risk on my own desire!"

"So you admit you desire me still," you allow yourself a half-smile. It feels strange, like it's been too long since you used those muscles. You remove Morrigan's Ring from its box and slip it on. Funny that it feels more familiar than your own smile.

You then pull a dagger from her pack and let your unstrapped breastplate drop to the ground with a dull clank. The duration of the Force Field expires, and as it fades, she makes the last motion to cast Blizzard. The sudden snowstorm bites through your padded undershirt. She is a powerful mage, and you stand before her defenseless, in only your leg armor and boots and a padded shirt. Your muscles scream as you fight through the stinging cold towards her.

"Morrigan, I'm here for you both or not at all!" you cry out over the blizzard. Suddenly you can't tell which hurts more, the cold or the fact that she's causing it. "But you'll not leave me again! I'll find you; I've proven that much!"

"DAMN you, Warden!!" Her voice is a shriek of anguish. Maybe she can't kill you, either. But she'll have to, or you'll hound her endlessly. "You cannot be a part of it! You don't understand what you say!"

"Dammit, witch! I love you! I need understand no more than that!" And with that you're upon her. She looks down at your hand over hers, the handle of your dagger thrust into her grip. The point of the blade stings as it presses into your chest where you placed it yourself. Your words are whispers in the snowstorm, but she hears them well enough. "Now kill me, beloved, or stand at my side once again."

And with that you kiss her. It might be your last act in this life, or it might save what's left of your soul and hers. She'll stab you, or she won't. But as you lean into her, you can see the worn leather strap around her neck. It's a simple cord worn to a shine and bound tight to her throat, and it's not been removed often, if ever. The twin to your ring hangs there at her throat, and she doesn't resist your kiss.

-------------

Of course she then stabs our hero in the heart LITERALLY this time, since doing so figuratively wasn't enough to keep him off her tail. And the kid killed and ate the dog. But there you go. Heh.

Of course, that's just my take. Got a bit more long-winded than I originally intended, but it was fun, anyway.

;)

That is some strong work right there....brought a tear to my eye.

I think you should just recycle the Baldur's Gate II storyline/game even more than you guys did in this game (seriously, get into a castle through the back door and wipe out all the baddies, the main city with multiple districts, underdark, elf encampment, astral plane/fade. Only thing missing in DA was the city of atlantis theme).

Wasn't your main character and Imoen the children of a god in that game? I can totally see Morrigan raising her kid to believe she is a god, especially since the kid has proof in his own body and soul that he is a god (and thus why would he ever believe his mother is any different? Until a certain age of course, that's when the fun begins though =p) Wait, I got it, you can have Morrigan in a city of Atlantis theme!!!

I'm a sucker for a quick happy ending, but I think Morrigan will be one of the most important characters in the Dragon Age franchise. I would expect her to only appear in a sequel - and even then as nearly a force of nature. Possibly someone it takes the entire game to get to - or someone who is primarily seen through her influencing/changing the world.

meh, what i'm hoping is that what we learned from morrigan's side quest is that if she learned how her 'mother' retained her immortality...who is really to say that morrigan isn't planning to do the same thing to a so called child?

hell maybe she knows that flemeth is so powerful that she'll need that power and would go to that length. great job david if you ever read this, you truly wrote something that i entirely look forward to finding more about!

It's quite obvious, that Morrigan wanted the old god child because she has every intention of doing what Flemeth did and possessing the body later in life. That vessel would have limitless ****ing power, or so one would imagine.

At the same time, I REALLY found myself emotionally connected to Morrigan which is kind of retarded, cause I've never experienced that in a videogame before. So something PC / Morrigan related if you romanced her as some form of closure would be hella nice. That ending just left me utterly unsatisfied and saddened.

Was super gay btw that since you technically end the relationship at endgame without any way to prevent it, means that if you play any DLC she's perma "friendly" even at 100. SUPER GAY.

*edit* o rite. Signed.

If you did not give her the Mirror Gift from the Orzimar commons vendor you can give it too her after the DLC endgame save and she will be in love with you again.

What?  Is the idea of a reunion automatically a binary concept with nothing between "heartbreak" and "white picket fence?"

How about a chase?  I could see my PC chasing her through the woods, Morrigan losing ground because she's draging a child along.  Turns around, intending to fight, and at some point gets a cheap shot in.  PC goes down, bleeding deep in the woods.  But she finds herself unable to leave him to die and nurses him to health.

Or something less dramatic.  Maybe she just needs help?  The practical applications of what our PC is capable of are quite numerous, romance or no. and would be an obvious go-to for any assistance.  Maybe the kid got captured.  I think I've actually heard that story or some variation on it before.

I actually really like the first idea and variations upon it.  On one hand, saving the PC reinforces her belief that love is a weakness.  On the other hand, if she'd left him to die, then she'd be proving herself wrong on that same point because it didn't make her weak.

I basically resorted to an excercise in fanfiction.  My point is that "reunion" doesn't equal "picket fences" or settling down or anything of the sort.  Adventure hooks work, whether its an adventure hook that reunites or reuniting is the adventure hook.  I should think most players like the idea of characters continuing adventure of some sort and that idea doesn't sound too antithical to Morrigan.  And Morrigan's specific interactions with that reunion could play on whatever the specifics of her fears are, whether that be integral or secondary to whatever is taking place.

I honestly have no illusions about any reunion between Morrigan and the PC being "perfect" with them running towards eachother and embracing in a flowery field with butterflies flying around them, and Morrigan just forgetting her reasons for leaving the moment she sees the PC again.

Whatever her reasons are, she seems to believe VERY strongly that leaving is the right thing to do, and even if (a big if, she doesn't seem like someone you'd find unless she wants to be found) your PC managed to find her somewhere, she'd probably run away again as soon as the opportunity presented itself.

If any reunion is to take place, and I hope it will, they'd almost have to be driven together out of necessity. Flemeth stealing the child from Morrigan comes to mind as a possible reason. Or the old god-child itself being inherently evil in the end and turning on Morrigan, and you'd be forced to travel together again to stop (kill) your son/daughter. Something to force them together, at least for a time.

This way, you'd at least have ample time to ask all the questions you need answered without her being able to simply run away instead of providing those answers. Of course, I hope that in asking those questions and getting her answers, you'd be able to work through at least some of the issues in your relationship. And there's plenty of those, even if you didn't romance her.

I'll admit to wanting a happy ending (ignoring the fact that no matter what, you'll most likely die before you even hit 50), the hero getting the girl etc. But I don't want it to come easily.

I'd probably even be content with an ending where she leaves again, as long as this time we'd get more of an explanation as to why. Ideally, I'd want my PC to be able to leave together with her in the end into the unknown, as I have no desire to whisk her away to live happily ever after at castle Cousland.

Ugh, I have no idea if any of that made any sense but I'm tired and already far too late for class, so...

Granted those games were made a decade ago and Bioware has come along way.  In the ending it suggested that Orlais would be the next destination of the game.   Because of this they can have the story removed a bit from Ferelden so the story can remain canon based on the players choices not any one choice fits all sort of thing.

The reunion "quest" so to speak makes a bit more sense as a sidequest in the immediate run because if your character romanced Morrigan or if you did the ritual than the darkspawn would sense the child *Not Morrigan, and Morrigan also couldn't sense them.  It would make more sense for her to take a deal with one of the wardens (because your PC can die at the end) rather than be constantly hunted by the Darkspawn.
