Now, if it's gonna be an RPG, it's really hard to tell. With Mass Effect they moved away from the classic RPG game as we knew it, but it still remained a third-person-shooter/RPG. If they decide to cross all the way and go to a full FPS game, then personally i'll have a hard time following them.
Oh well !

So where is Bioware going with this? Is a vechicle combat race game, a third person shooter, a another (trite) waste land open world game ala RAGE or Fallout? And what could it mean for BW? Is it going the way of Infinity Ward. Another mind less shooter in a myriad of mind less shooters. Or is it going to be another RARE and start make luke warm titles?
As far as I understand a new team is developing the game, and I leaning towards that EA is just useing BW brand lable to promote the new game. It has to be, why would BW strech itself so thin between 4 to 5 games. If that the case why risk being link to a possible failure?
A lot of original fans of Bioware have voiced concerns that Bioware is losing it's RPG roots. Mass Effect 2 shed a lot of things that fans expect in an RPG. BW reasoning is of stream lining (or what some fans think over simplying) the experince. With the ME3 having multi-player and Dragon Age 2 minor let down, fans are fearing that EA"corrupting influence" has sullied a great story driven game developer.
Please BioWare focus on only 3 core games.

...it looks crap.
I probably won't bother, too much else happening. Anyway, I'm likely finished with BioWare after Mass Effect 3.

Well minus all that BS, you do know Biowares first game was a Mech combat game right? So more likely than not the First bioware fans are pissed it makes RPGs. Food for thought.
As to it being Merc.3 if its like the first game I might not mind that.

Call me an apocalypse-junkie, but I never grow tired of the genre.

Don't judge a book by it's cover.

Instead of rushing to judgement off of one picture, I am going to wait for more information. Also, damn those landscapes for being their natural colors. So disheartening.
That kind of rational thinking has no place here!

I would actually be OK with this, as long as they make some HUGE improvements over Mercenaries 2. The original was so much fun, I beat it probably 4 or 5 times, but the second one I only only beat twice.

I hope it's a modern day espionage rpg game. I'd love that.
This. Like Alpha Protocol only less buggy and the ability to create your own protagonist (gender, sexuality, etc..).
I wouldn't mind a post-apocalyptic rpg either...I don't really like that setting but I'd love to see how Bioware would do it.
Still waiting for Bioware to do a superhero themed rpg but thats just me :-)

I;m not pissed they switched gears. Plenty of good to great games have been made. I get more pissed at the fans that pigeonhole BIoWare that they should only make certain games with certain features and mechanics.
I could go for a Mercs game.

And Bethesda was originaly a company that made and was famous for sports games.
Or Terminator games.
Do you really think there are sports fans out there pissed that Bethesda is focusing so much on RPG's?
BioWare was never as famous for Shattered Steel or MDK the way that Wayne Gretsky or (especially) Gridiron put Bethesda on the map.
Plus, distance from Gridiron to Arena? 8 years.
Distance from Shattered Steel to Baldur's Gate? 2 years.
I don't think Bioware was "the mech game maker" in ANYONE's mind. They made ONE mech game.
Bethesda WAS a sports game company and known as such, but it is now an RPG company.
---
My point?
Simply - no one is upset that Bethesda doesn't make sports games anymore.

Bingo.
What put BioWare on the map as a developer wasn't Shattered Steel or MDK- it was Baldur's Gate, NWN and KOTOR.
I'll be curious as to what direction this new game goes, cause if its something totally out of left field compared to the story heavy, dialogue driven stuff like ME or DA, then doesn't that sort of dilute the BioWare brand? I mean, you know what to expect when you hear of a Bethesda game and the same is true to an extent with BioWare.
Anyway, over at Neogaf there is speculation that it could be a new Mercenaries game or at least something based off of the old Mercenaries project that was seemingly scrapped a couple years ago when Pandemic folded.
The speculation over there goes as is:
Visceral Los Angeles is no longer part of Visceral: http://www.visceralgames.com/careers
Visceral Los Angeles was made up of the remains of Pandemic, who used to be part of BioWare.
Visceral Los Angeles was working on what used to be Mercs Inc, but the project was later moved to Frostbite 2 and was going to be part of Army of Two 3. It seems like it now might have been turned into a new IP.
Mercs Inc looked pretty similar (conceptually) to this game teased in the OP:
Could be something to it, as a BioWare LA would indeed be a truly new studio that we don't know about as of yet.
