I'm hoping for one of the following:

-Espionage RPG

-Victorian/gothic horror RPG

-Space sim

-Anything unrelated to Dragon Age.

I vote #2.  I'd love that.

I'd also easily pay for a ME style game toolset.  (This ain't going to happen but a spaced themed toolset would be a joy.)

I second the Victorian/Gothic Horror idea. I'd love to see something completely different.

...Ok, a bit cheesy, but that's my idea. A free-form rpg that encorporates genuine horror elements, character progression, and story divergence.

The issue with BioWare making any kind of horror game is that genuinely scary horror games require atmosphere. And recent BioWare games are entirely devoid of any cohesive atmosphere, IMO.

Are we sure it's going to be an RPG?

BioWare
has been chummy with EPIC (Gears of War) people, as the Facebook ME
group shows. I have no clue if it's only because the producer or w/e
actually tried the ME3 demo and promoted it. Maybe we're looking at
something similar to Gears? (I actually enjoy GoW, but yeah, no RPG
elements really.) Although ME's gameplay is already sort of similar to
Gears'.

I'm betting on it being first person- ME already is their Gears with dialogue third person shooter, so they'll try to tap into Call of Duty and make a FPS with dialogue choices and a big multiplayer component.

Aye, I keep hoping there would be a Jade Empire 2 (like so many people have said already) XD But none-the-less I am completely excited over a new franchise. I like RPGs so if it's another RPG that's great. Course, the setting of it is what has me curious. Would it be another futuristic setting or would it place itself in the past but with a mythological theme (like Jade Empire).

I know it isn't but... Game of Thrones/ASoIaF pls.

:D

That would be too epic for words. Perhaps a bit too similar to DA, being fantasy...
I find the renaissance post-apocalypse idea intriguing.

The main thing I'm hoping for is a single player focused game, not a coop or MMO.

I recently picked up Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines on a steam sale, and enjoyed it, so something with those kind of themes would be nice.

Gameplay wise, I suppose it might be interesting to see Bioware's take on an open world RPG.

Yep.  You could be right and based upon the recent trends we've seen from them, that's probably exactly what they're going to do; wedge themselves into the FPS genre.

Personally I think they should, along with Epic, push the boundaries of TPS mechanics.  In my view, it's the only way to compete with the gigantor that COD has become.  BF3 will hold their own against them, and I think that's where EA should invest in the destruction of the monolith.  If they can continuing pushing the edge of the envelope of TPS gameplay (smoothing cover-based mechanics and movement [jump, sprint, vault, roll, sliding in/out of cover, etc]), I think they stand a chance at being competitive in the shooter market place with just good gameplay, but, even then they can offer a real alternative (assuming they aren't afraid to integrate layers of serious RPG elements in a quality manner-- but, I know that appears to be asking alot these days).

I would like to see them tackle something like a modern military TPS with heavy role playing; or maybe an alternative history...oh, I don't know...the Cold War breaking out into all out global conflict with a central character impacting events over years, and deals with a world destroying itself; or even a post apoalyptic game where the central character actually plays a leading role in rebuilding society over several games; or even a political intrigue story done in the spirit of Orwell or Huxley, where there is the building of a revolution against something like the central authority of an overwhelming police state.

But, I personally would like them to stay in third person and continue to refine that style of gameplay.  While I like the first person perspective, I've grown to like actually seeing "myself" interact in the game, and customizing my characters and not just my weapons.

EDIT: An open world would be an interesting thing to see them do, but I'll forego that for a quality story and associated RPG elements.

Please be a horror game please be a horror game! Only game that scared me was the Project Zero series. Dead Space just about met the criteria to be classed as a horror game and Dead Space 2 was a third person shooter to me.

I'll guess...

RPG with vampires that, like Witcher, focuses on a single character and has any "party members" as companions that you don't fully control.

Ooh aren't you a clever cookie with your sarcasm Jreezy, I envy you. On a serious note the horror genre has fallen so much, I hope Silent Hill Downpour has plenty of scares and tension. But again please be a horror game announced!

Post apocalyptic, anyone?
Zombies too.
Maybe even a platforming type of game.
I honestly have no clue where they're going with this.

I'd love to see a Shadowrun style game. Near future cyberpunk/blade runner/Deus Ex: Human Revolutions style setting/look but add it magic, dragons, orcs and elves and such. Use the ME3 Engine and class structure for a really kick *ss TPS game.

Seen a lot of people talk about Jade Empire 2 though i'm not sure where they could go with that. The first game wrapped things up pretty neatly. Unless they go about it with a whole new character and story in the same world but i imagine long time fans wouldn't like that much. Personally i'd like to see a remake of the original. With what Bioware do now with character interaction and gameplay i think Jade Empire now could be a much better game and hopefully they'd be able to make the story better and less flawed.

But yeah a new franchise will be good to freshen things up and offer up a new flavour from Bioware. Their franchises are getting to their third games now so it'll be good for them to do something new and fresh offering players a whole new experience. If they can take what they have learned from the games they have made so far they could create something really great.

I don't necessarily want a direct sequel if BioWare considered making a Jade Empire 2. I can deal having an all new cast of characters if need be but I feel the universe has too much that can be explored to just be left alone after one game.

I'd like to see a throwback to the classic horror genre (Dracula, not Edward, etc.), but it would have to be done well.

Don't suppose it could be another Forgotten Realms game, even if it isn't part of the BG franchise?

Eh, oh well.. Think I'll hold off assuming it'll even be a full retail game for the time being, could end up being another Facebook game yet.

Still, exciting news.

I hope they shape up and make a proper RPG. Not a shooter like what ME has become.

Really, I'd love to drop some teasers or hints, but we are totally not allowed to on this. Only Geoff Keighley's upcoming hints and teh reveal at the VGAs are the details you're going to get.

I think that this new franchise, if it is entirely based on its own universe, will be set in contemporary times. Since DA is fantasy/midevil-ish, and ME is sci-fi/future-ish, that leaves us with ?/present-ish. It will have to have at least some basis in RPGs, since that is Bioware's base fandom. Other than that, it could be anything.

BUT I STILL WANT JADE EMPIRE 2!!!!
.....
OK, I'm done now. Just had to get that out of my system.

ME was always a shooter. It was never an RPG in the traditional sense it's more like a pick your own adventure story/sci fi shooter. Bioware never set out to make it like an RPG its sort of a whole different experience and having RPG elements doesn't make it an RPG.

I'm hoping it's a Feudal Japan-era RPG or a Cyberpunk RPG(like Deus Ex:HR)

A Feudal Japan-era RPG would be a great alternative to Jade Empire.
