Prettier than that Hawke. Regardless, why do elves even need to be pretty?

Marvin_Arnold---Apparently you did not look at the elves close enough. Again you back my theory that most of the complaints come from texturing and not the actually facial structure. Here again is that same girl whom you claim looks like a DAO elf from a different angle, and this time with a couple of elves from the main game (and not the obligatory fugly examples that most detractors use)...and the funny thing on this is...I am not a huge fan of DA2! I actually prefer a mix of the two styles to be quite honest. Here's the sh..
You can have any theory you like; it's the facial structure. You're just cherry picking individual models plus angles.
Those who like to argue that the elf redesign is fine, often claim Merril is pretty. Do you perhaps think so?
How pretty is she here?

End of discussion. Bye.

In a universal sense they don't, of course. Look at Morrowind and Skyrim for instance, nobody is complaining about the looks of elves there. But they do look great and believable, DA2 elves don't. DA2 elves aren't biologically believable to me. They stand out as simply wrong. Inept design. Look at those ears for instance. I'm pretty sure that pointed ears turned backwards like that is an acoustically dysfunctional adaptionRegardless, why do elves even need to be pretty?

But in our specific context, DA elves do need to be pretty. Because of DA:O.
(and there is also the immediate context of DA2-fans having expressed the opinion that DA2 elves are pretty, which I strongly disagree with).
Finally, my first (and thus to me the most important) Warden was an elf. And I'm damned if I'm going to accept that she looks like DA2 elves the next time I see her.
You should ask that the writers. According to the lore they are. Now we only need to get to see what we read and heard about.Rojahar wrote...

Anyone want to make bets on how dwarves and dragons will look like in DA3, then? Swords and armour? Castles and towns?Riknas wrote...
Part of being unique is rooted in the desire to better make Dragon Age 2 stand out from other fantasy stories, both in story and appearance.

D.Kain, unfortunately that Warden is distorted. (as with all characters who stand close to the frame edge)

Can you please explain to me what you meant by "someone in the south?" As it is, that sounds really offensive...
