please do tell me if I've posted in the wrong thread.
Sup Biowarers, I'm new here, but this isn't a introductory thread is it? So I recently found out you could edit saves on Dragon Age. I searched forever for tutorials on how to edit Dragon Age: Origins saves for the Xbox360, but all I could find was tutorials for the PC. Thinking I couldn't do it for the Xbox 360, I got determined to try and find a way. So now here I am, heres a tutorial!
I'll probably post a video tutorial too next week. :]
Requirements
USB Memory Storage or HDD Transfer Cable
Modio
USBXTAF
pyGFF EditorMUST
Dragon Age Checksum Fix
Getting the save
Ok this method slightly varies depending on if you have a USB Stick or a Transfer Cable, but we should get round that.
USB Users
To get your save from the Xbox 360 and onto the USB we first must configure your USB Device. Press the Xbox guide button and go to: System Settings>Memory>Hard Drive(Or the storage device the save is on)>Dragon Age: Origins. Locate your save and copying it by pressing A, then copy, navigate to the USB Device and press A. Now we've just got the save file onto the USB! And we also have a back up incase something goes wrong :]. After that, plug your USB into your computer and open up USBXTAF. Click File>Open First USB Drive. Considering there's nothing else in your USB ports, you should be fine. But if a two folders called Cache Partition and Data Partition are not there, you've got the wrong one, so click File>Open USB Manually, and find your device. Once you've done that open up Data Partition>Content, the folder within this is your profile. Extract your profile folder to some where it can be easily accessed. Now just open up your extracted folder and keep clicking the folders until you find a file, this is your save. So that's it for the USB Users.
Transfer Cable Users
Connect your transfer cable up to your Computer and Xbox 360. Open up USBXTAF and click File>Open First HDD Drive, if doesn't open or opens the wrong one click Open HDD Image. You should see something that says, 'device1: xbox360 hard disk drive' click that then Partition 3>Content now this bit is only hard if you have alot of profiles on your Hard Drive, but just click the + sign on the files and it should have the games you play listed below. Once you've find your profile extract the folder to some where you can easily access it. Go into the extracted folder and navigate through the folders until you find a file called something like, '0x1f75547_8_u!0' NOTE: The files won't be all called that, but they should be something similar. The first file is your most recent save, so this would probably be the file you want.
Preparing your save
Now that we've found your save, we need to prepare it for editing. Open up Modio and click M>Open file from computer, find your save and double-click it, this should open it up. Click the contents tab and you should see some files. You only want savegame.das and savegame.das.x, extract these two some where easily accessible. Now open up Dragon Age Checksum Fix. Click resign and find the savegame.das file, it will ask you for another file, so find the savegame.das.x. Wait 5 mins and close the program. Open up pyGFF Editor and click File>Open, find your savegame.das file and open it. Now we've accessed file. You can edit your save game from here! There are plenty of websites that host tutorials on how to edit your savegame. Like here! Use the PC tutorial.
Packing your save
Once you have finished editing your save, we need to pack it back. To do this, open up Modio and go back to the contents tab, replace savegame.das and savegame.das.x with the resigned and edited once, after that click rehash and resign a couple of times. You're good to know, that you've just successfully edited your save! Load the save up on the Xbox, squeel with joy. Thanks!
