In the live action Redemption Episode 4, Tallis claims she freed 4 slaves from the estate and was demoted by the Qunari because of it. Is this some part of MotA that I missed by not solving a puzzle or by not seeing an area? Maybe she's just making it up for sympathy? I don't know. Anyone? I feel like I missed something.
Did Tallis free 4 slaves in MotA?

When you're in the Dungeons in MotA, you can free some prisoners. It's possible they are slaves, although I don't recall there being four.

Redemption takes place before MotA.

Oh, I'm an idiot. That's the part I missed.
I guess I just assumed it was a cool reference to our mission because she was talking about a mission in Orlea from a collector of many things, which was really vague, obviously, so I just went with what I was hoping for it to mean, and, yeah, I'm an idiot.

She was demoted because she freed slaves. Why do I get the feeling that Castillon is secretly Qunari?

She wasn't demoted for freeing slaves. She was demoted for leaving a trace of herself despite explicit instructions not to.

Yeah but MotA doesn't take place in Orlais anyway - It takes place in the free marches near wildervale =P it shows it on the map when you leave Kirkwall hightown with Tallis in the cutscene

And my idiocracy just seems to compound.

You just keep telling yourself that.

Its the truth. She was demoted because she killed the guy she was supposed to be robbing, making it quite clear that someone had broken into the man's house. She was supposed to accomplish her mission without leaving a trace that anyone was ever there. She's a spy, after all.

Not just killed him, but left him in pieces all over......not exactly subtle.

From what I understood, she did get demoted because she was told to leave no trace. The art dealer had something the qunari wanted, he wouldn't sell/give it, so they sent Tallis to steal it. Obviously they're going to be upset when an item they were just asking about ends up stolen and the noble who owned it turns up dead.

I'm guessing they are setting up the future Qun vs Orlais/Chantry conflict. With Orlais returning the Tome to the Qunari during DA2: the Empress sending the Duke to handle the information exchange in MotA, and the art dealer having something the Qunari wanted really bad, I'd imagine DA3 with tie into whatever the huge event in Asunder and the Qunari finally making their move.
I'm predicting the White and Black Chantrys having to (unhappily) join forces again, or the Qunari just wiped out Tevinter and making their way south.
