I'm having some problems when I try to reload one specific save game of Mass Effect 1 for the PC.
Mass Effect worked perfectly fine, no hiccups or anything. But right after I destroyed all the synthetics in the Amstrong
Nebula, and I received a new secondary mission, something involving Tali'Zorah's pilgrimage, I saved in Normandy engineering and left the game.
Later on, when I reloaded my previous save file, I ended up in this black area with no textures. The only things I could see were the minimap, the user interface, the tactical hub, the recticule and some lights coming from the weapons
on Shepard's back.
I backed up my save and then proceeded to overwrite my previous save. It told me that my location was Normandy command deck. Strangely enough, when I opened the map, I had a 'return to Normandy' button. Clicking this freezes Mass Effect.
I only receive this 'black screen' on that save file, reloading other profiles works perfectly fine.
Only problem is... I didn't have multiple saves... AND I spent over 30 hours playing on that profile, is there any way
to recover it?
These are my specifications:
1. Mass Effect 1
a. PC version, patched 1.02.
b. Media: Physical disk, bought online via Amazon UK which In turn shipped it from another company. 2. System Details
a. Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM CPU @2.00GHz (8 CPU's) ~2.0GHz, 8192 MB of RAM (not counting 1696MB of dedicated mem.)
b. Intel® HD Graphics Family, 1696MB VRAM, version 8.15.10.2509. (Note: glistering sticker says that the
graphics card is a NVIDIA GEForce GT540M Cuda with 1GB of dedicated memory)
e. Direct X Version: DirectX 11, but I also have DirectX 9 installed.
3. Problem Details
a. 'Who' doesn't apply in this case.
b. Reloading a specific save file yields a black screen, other profiles work fine.
c. Each time I reload that specific save file, I receive a black screen. This is the first time something like that has happened.
d. Where: Normandy engineering, where I last saved.
e. Why? I have no idea. The only bug I abused was the re-openable crate on Chasca, Matano system, Maroon Sea. But I continued to play for another hour and thirty minutes untill I finished all the tasks in the Amstrong Nebula. After which I saved on the Normandy, in the engineering section.
