I believe coercion only works with the pc, since you do the talking. Your companions may sometimes help or enter a conversation, but it doesn't have anything to do with their coercion level.

I'll go out on a limb and say it'll be like KotOR, where your PC does all the talking and is the only one who can take the skill.

i think that will be a problem (at least for me) as i like being able to choose all the dialogue options and with a skill point every 3 levels i will only be able to pick the 4 combat tactics and 4 coertions

You get a skill point every 2 levels actually, not 3.
And why would you take combat tactics for your PC? He's the one character you should be personally controlling all the time, so he doesn't really need AI slots.
I think coercion for the PC will take the place of the combat tactics skill you'd take if he were an NPC.

Only if you're a rogue, actually. Mages and warriors get one every 3 level.
And he was likely refering to combat training, not tactics:P

Well, I would think that Coercion is as necessary(?) as in Fallout. Good to have if you want to get easier over a point in the quest but it is possible to do the game without..

I trust BioWare enough to figure that it's not only a tool to get out of tough fights.
