Im hoping that people with ME1 & 2 save files will have extra quests open up and people to talk to from previous games.

id imagine that people who start with the 3rd will have no idea what is going on, like how i was with 2 ( ive played the first by now). but judging by there marketing recently even that is unlikely

I imagine you'll be able to get the same endings regardless of whether you've played the first two games or not. After all this is the perfect place for new players to blah blah etc. etc.

Anyway, I don't expect much than this. A few extra lines from "old" squadmates, some emails and some side quests like Gianna Parasini's and C. Verner's in ME2.
Somehow, I don't believe BW will be making a lot of exclusive content for hardcore fans. But whatever it is, it will be welcome.

the question you need answered is: whats the difference in ME3 between my all out 100% completionist hardcore ME1+ME2 import compared to ME3s simple comic?

it seems obvious ME3 isnt going to please you becaseu you helped that crazy chick from the mindoir background. or wed have heard about that looongg before we heard about MP. what if the comic choices are all that matter, and i end up not even bringing my imports becasue im sick of reading stupid emails?

whatever, modable weapons, right?

There's no such thing as "perfect" and no, you will not achieve an ending of that sort.

^ I know. I pretty much said that in my first line of the post.   Everyone has their own defination of perfection, but its a simple way to describe the best possible outcome without having a massive thread title.

Catering kills stories.

I'm just going to repaste this comment until the game comes out:

My Cmdr. Frank Shepard is an orphaned kid with no biotics or special tech talents. He joined the service just to get out of the hole he was in. Now he's about to become the greatest hero in history — all of history, which includes the histories of every species aware of and in contact with the rest of the galaxy.

I get to take the whole journey, from beginning to end.

All of us did, the old school players who started with ME1 years ago.

No one else will.

Do not begrudge new players whatever consolations BioWare can still offer them, even if some of it comes at our expense. They will never be able to go where we have already been. Their final victory can never mean so much to them as ours will to us.

Cant top that really.

PC port was amazing. I'm still trying to find a place where I can buy it (offline).

In mint condition and still shrink-wrapped? Tough search there, Ghost-621. Expect any you find to cost you.

My local Best Buy still sells it.(last I checked)

Bioware have made it clear multiple times that no type of player punishment will be present for newcomers. They'll simply get a different experience.

The problem is, people around here... don't believe them.

After the utter bull**** job their marketing department has done so far, with making stupid claims and comments that have only pissed off the older fans of the series? Gee, who would've thought that'd happen.... <_<

Yes.

If would be very unfair to lock content from people who buy ME3 just because they didn't buy the others.

I imagine it will be much harder to achieve the best ending without the previous games, but it will be possible - charging £50 for a game that never be 'completed' without the purchase of other games is unacceptable.

Couldn't have written anything better myself. Victory and losses in ME3 will mean so much more to me because I've been with the story from the start. I've experienced the journey leading to ME3. New players get the destination of the ME series - the whole series has been building up to this galactic war - but the journey is just as important as the destination. New customers get to skip straight to the destination, and I'm sure they'll like what they find, but it will never mean as much to them as it will for the fans.

Go play ME2 without an import or use Genesis if you have either PC or Xbox.  The experience is very different.  No Conrad, no Shiala, No Parcani, Wrex dead, Rachni queen dead, Council dead.  Shepard does not get their Spectre status back.

Even those on PS3 get a gimped game because they only get to choose a few things and that is it.  The dialogue is very different with Garrus and Tali as well.  No comment about what they saw with Cerberus in ME1.

Missing small amounts of dialogue is one thing - that sort of stuff is equivalent to a dlc - but missing out on not just an ending, but the best ending, is far more significant. no-one wants to buy a game thats says save the galaxy from the Reapers, but only if you buy the other games first.
