As Joker complained in ME1 she's a bit heavy in the rear, but the base supports the model well. All in all, if you ever wanted a real world representation of the Normandy, I don't think that you can go wrong with the model. Add in it's distressed appearance and it looks like the warship that its supposed to represent.

Actually, from the pics int he store, the CErberus version looks to be of lesser quality. But that may just be the individual item.Grimmace wrote...
Paint was not good, I hope the Cerberus version I ordered is better. Weird thing is in the pictures of the ME3 Normandy, it has black strips going around it. In the model it is in the structure of the ship, not painted on. Did the shape of the Normandy change for ME3? It's got indents all over it now. I thought they were just painted on strips from the pictures and vids shown so far.

The model's paint job is rubbish. There are deep grooves that are black, but the black paint sloshes out of the grooves. For a model like this, it just looks horrible.
The engines are the only cool looking bit.

The lines of the ship itself are well done. Just the paint is abysmal. However, I paint miniatures, and I've decided that after the game comes out, I will repaint this mess properly. The way it looks now... I'm just really surprised and dissappointed.

Thanks for the update, Volkov! I was dreading the customer service shuffle that EA/BioWare had sent me off on.
Yes... it looks pretty bad, especially considering that there are so many perfectly parallel groves in the model itself. It appears to be made of a cast resin, and the model details are crisp. But I normally work with pewter mini figs, so I don't know what I can do about the paint already on this without damaging the ship, but a fine grade primer will cover many sins. I can probably get the existing decals off without too much of a fuss and put new ones on after it's repainted.
If you look at it from a distance, it's not too hideous. The lines of the ship are still awesome:

[EDIT: Aw, self-delusion fail - the more I look at it, the more annoying the sloppy paint job looks. ]

My model of the SR2 Alliance Normandy arrived today and I have to admit, I like it. It's a resin model with dull colors. The white paint shows signs that the base resin has bled through darkening it, the blue is dull and some of the lines are not quite strait on the engine bells. However, when you consider that the Normandy SR2 took one heck of a beating in ME2 and that that the Alliance likely would not have spent a great deal of coin refurbishing her ascetics, I think that it works.
As Joker complained in ME1 she's a bit heavy in the rear, but the base supports the model well. I would hope the first posters paint job was better than the pics shown, if not how much was this thing anyway?.

That paint job is kind of insulting.
It looks like it's layered on thick enough to be kind of insulating.

Yeah the paint job is one of the worst things I have seen, especially for the price. I will have to repaint this...............
Exactamundo. In fact, I would have been a happier camper if it had shown up bare, not even primed. Then I wouldn't have to worry bout the paint underneath when I painted it.
To those who asked how much it cost, $35 + shipping. I'm not happy with it, and I've spent about that much on large unpainted pewter models that I had to assemble. But I'll spend more making decals for the repaint.
But, it should never have had to be repainted.
