I've also already emailed Dark Horse to see if they're going to do anything about the paint quality issues.

Mine doesn't look nearly as bad as the pictured ones. It has only one or two painting errors. Lines are striaght, and curves are sharp.Captain_Obvious_au wrote...
Okay, I'm worried now. I have this speeding to me from TFAW - has anyone received one that DOESN'T have a paint job that looks like it's been done by a kid???

And as most others have noted, the model itself looks great, the paint is all that people are mostly having troubles with (though one person posted here that their's were shipped broken in half).

The paint job on mine is uneven in parts, and some look rushed. It's not bad overall, but there are definitely noticable flaws on it, and ones you don't even have to look hard to find. It looks more like a fan paint than a professional job.V0LK0V wrote...

The black markings are not filled in properly, and the "Normandy" demarcation is a little crooked and there's a lot of areas where the paint is either thin or went "outside the lines". Definitely not a professional job. I don't hate it, but I am disappointed in it. I'd give it about a 7/10. The model itself is amazing, but the paint has too many flaws.

LQ models, badly drawn comics, Microsoft leaking stuff. I feel bad for Bioware. They just can't seem to get any of their third party partners to do anything right. I wish they could stick to doing everything themselves.

That pretty much sums it up. I don't think I'd rate it that high though. Maybe a 6. I don't entirely hate it - the underlying model is pretty cool - but the paint job is glaringly awful.

Maybe I'm being too generous. I don't know. I guess for $35 I expected more. A 6/10 would be more accurate. The more I look at the more I just WANT to love it -- I really do. But I find that I can't. I like it, but... it's just flawed, not as good as it could be. I feel like I've had to say that a lot about Bioware products of late.Hannova wrote...

Maybe I'm just expecting too much for the costs.

For those who say it's good for the price and size, look at this version of the USS Defiant from F-toys. Oh, and it's only 7cm (less than 3 inches) long.

It looks like it was painted by a monkey, or perhaps hired out to a pre-school art class. I'm frustratingly tempted just to go over parts of it myself manually, because good grief. This obviously wasn't something manufactured with any great care and precision.
I wish it had arrived physically broken, so I could have a justification for being refunded.

The paint job looks ok from about a meter or so of distance, but honestly it was such a shoddy job, whoever was responsible needs to get fired. None of the painted on detail looks good - it does really look like they had some untalented kid with a brush painting this, rather than a professional with masks and an airbrush. The upper side of the ship can sort of pass if you look at it from at least an arm's length worth of distance, on mine the ventral side of the ship is just horribly painted. Is it so hard to draw a straight line? I'd probably do a better job drunk.. There's even an accidental blob of silver paint on one of the black engine exhausts (it's not supposed to be there, it just got there by accident). Shoddy work to say the least.
Frankly, I'd prefer it if they made it a more expensive but quality die cast metal model than this. The paint job really isn't too complex, there's no excuse for this. Bad, bad quality product. I'd probably consider getting the current paintjob off by finely sandpapering it off, but frankly I'm concerned it would just fall apart - it is very fragile.

I just got both versions of the Normandy (at Barnes and Noble, all of which are now stocking them, I had a coupon so $25 each.)
