Put it simply I've heard nothing but good things since it's release, I'm a long time Sonic fan so I'm really wanting to get this one.

I'm planning to buy it, or hoping someone picks it up for me as a gift. I loved Sonic ever since the original on Genesis. My interest in the series petered out after Sonic Adventure 2. That game was passable at best, and titles that followed were horrendously bad.

Generations caught me eye solely because it recreates levels from the original game. I can't wait to revisit the Green Hill and Starlight zones. Unfortunately, I'm too short on cash to pick it up right now. November is a bank account slaying month, it seems. Too many worthwhile games coming out at once.

I tried the demo and while I enjoyed classic sonic and the levels presented. I am not a fan of current generation of sonic and levels presented. In fact I utterly suck at the current generation of sonic. Thus I won't be picking up the game. To those who like the game have fun!

It's nice to have a really decent Sonic game for once that keeps things simple and delivers what Sonic is all about. It's the best Sonic game in a long while anyways. Too many games before that kept trying to add things nobody wants to the games.

But of course no Sonic game will ever beat Sonic 2 one of the best video games ever made

Sonic 2 was a great game. My only criticism of it was the music. Often, I hear about how amazing the soundtrack was, but I prefer the original's score. Tails was what saved that game for me.

I'm more in the side of liking the music though i guess it comes down to personal taste. The first game had a great soundtrack too but i liked the second games a little more. And then they went all out for the 3rd game which is rumoured to be scored by MJ himself along with one of his studio musicians.

Tails added a lot to the game i think it was fun that your friend could pick up a controller and be tails so nobody had to sit around and watch like a lemon.  i also think the levels and gameplay is awesome it's just incredibly fun and thats what a game should be.

I enjoyed the demo but I'm not sure about paying full price for it. How long is the actual game?

The single player will likely take a bit less than 8 hours as far as I can tell. Not Modern Warfare short, but still short. That's mostly why I preferred renting it, it's going to be pretty breezy to get through.

I can't wait to revisit the Green Hill and Starlight zones.

Haven't reached Starlight yet, but green hill and all the ones I've seen so far look great, especially Sky Sanctuary.

Sonic 3 says hi! ^_^

Having played the game (also a longtime Sonic fan) I can say it's one of the best they've made in recent memory. Love the soundtrack to this game, especially because most of the tracks are remixes and are different for each Sonic and to be able to change the track to a different one for each stage you play.

Both Sonics play pretty well, though it's the 2D physics that sometimes glitch and sometimes spoil the mood. And despite this game's main feature of the return of classic Sonic, it's Modern Sonic that stands out for me as I feel Sega may have finally found the nice mix of modern gameplay switching between the 2D and 3D perspectives and it's kinda refreshing.

Also really like the zones they've got, favourites so far are probably Modern Chemical Plant and classic Crisis City. Just a little annoyed that there are only 3 zones represinting the Genesis/Megadrive games, which may be added to in future DLC who knows. If Ice Cap, Sandopolis and Angel Island zone got added it'd be one of my favourite Sonic games of all time.

I think I might. I need to play some platformers again and I've only tried some of the old Sonic games.
