So I played through with my Mage in post campaign and post Legacy. IMO it is not as good as Legacy as far as DLC goes but still better than any quest in the main game. Tallis is a terrible party member. Dies very quickly if not "watched". Puzzles while different are just annoying but I am by no means a fan of puzzles. I did the stealth thing and that was pretty annoying too. I am in a 2nd playthrough now and choose the non-stealth way and had more fun. The loot for what you had to go through to get it is just aweful. Maybe if other companions could wear it I wouldn't mind. Yeah I'm talking to you Bioware. Final Battle was good. Ending not so good. Party speak was good with Bethany and Aveline. So far with Fenris and Merril it stinks. Side quests were rather boring as well. All in all decent. I thought Legacy was epic and by far the best part of the game overall.

Tallis never died when I played through. She was actually pretty tough in my game. Then again, my mage Hawke did seem to act like a tank. I loved the puzzles and the humor.

Pfft, your points were largely negative and yet you apparently found it decent. God help any DLC you actively dislike.
It's better than Legacy imo because it contains much more variety, both in gameplay, dialogue and scenery. Legacy is just a giant dungeon filled with insane dwarves and darkspawn. It's well designed and a breath of fresh air after the repeating maps of the core game, but thats all there is to it.
Tallis I have no problem with. Her biggest fault is that shes a mage hosing character and you don't fight many mages in that DLC - the sky horror is the worst magical opponent you come across. I would have loved to have had Tallis for various points in the main campaign (or against Corypheus for that matter).
And the loot well, you were playing it post campaign, what did you expect? I kept my champion gear too; though mainly because the new sets look like ass in comparison. Statwise I'm not sure what would be better.

Well the post campaign loot for Legacy was just fine. I use it now rather than the champion gear. It is decent just not as good as legacy.

The only thing I didn't like about Mark of the Assassin is that even if you leave Tallis to die she still manages to not only survive, but walk away with the list of qunari spies while hawke just stands there and watches. Considering how much of a point my Hawke made it that he didn't want to help the qunari this seemed rather odd. Especially when you consider that it's never really explained how not helping her could result in the deaths of Thousands of innocents.
