What if he's already dead? Unless... Yes! Zombie Garrus for ME3 squadmate!

Spoiler alert: The final scene of the game was recorded with Garrus dialogue, so he at least lives until thirty seconds before the credits.  A similar scene was recorded with Kaidan.  Both Raphael Sbarge and Jennifer Hale were getting choked up, though.

You ma'am, have ruined my ME3 experience. I shall not suffer this injustice silently!

In all seriousness though, I don't know why people seem so hellbent on Garrus dying.

Bwahahahahaha!

In all seriousness though, I don't know why people seem so hellbent on Garrus dying.

Two reasons, usually:

1. He's more popular than their favorite character, so they carry a weird-ass grude or something.
2. They believe good storytelling means adhering to ye olde dramatic tropes.

No kidding...that was getting old even in Shakespeare's day.

Yeah, I had heard that too.  We'll see what happens.

Ah yes, the Shakespearean tragedy angle. I've never understood the whole idea of character popularity wars either, it's not like any of them invalidate the existence of another just because of fan response.

All this talk of the sidekick is gonna die or the LI is gonna die is really getting old. If any of the team members die it should be because you messed up not doing enough sidequests or some such...i personally am tired of scripted deaths that i cant prevent, yes i realize that happens in RL all the time, (served in USAF for 5yrs, and death is indiscriminate in who dies in war). However, there is loads of other non squaddies that can full fill that role too, hannah shepard for a spacer shep, anderson, etc. If I want my squaddies to survive everything then that should be an option, its a game where our choices influence what happens after all.

I was at EXPCon two weeks ago and Hale did say there was a end game scene that got to her and it was with Garrus.  That is all she said about it.  Rest would be spoiler and both her and Meer were very careful about not telling us anything we really didn't know.

I'm pretty convinced Garrus has a target painted on the back of his head, though it makes me sad.

That whole "overshadowed by Shepard" thing in LotSB is a pretty blatant set-up to make all of us go "Aww, Garrus, I want you to be the best Turian you can be, go lead that team on Palaven" and -- boom, he's dead in a blaze of glory saving his homeworld.

My canon Shep romanced him, so I'm sort of anticipating another DA:O "Love, life or integrity -- choose two" dilemma:
1) Let Garrus go to Palaven alone: he dies, Palaven saved, Shepard lives.
2) Keep Garrus close: Palaven lost, Garrus and Shep live, Garrus can no longer bear to be around her.
3) Shepard dies saving Palaven and Garrus lives.

This will also work for other LI's (substitute Tali for Garrus and Flotilla for Palaven).

I just hope his death is not 100% inevitable but can be affected by choices made in the game. I'm holding out a tiny hope of a crowning moment of awesome where we believe he is killed and then he shows up alive (only if we made the correct choices in ME2, of course).

You do realize that there is a chance of everyone dieing in ME3, so why specifically point out Garrus?
And lol @ Jack being butch.

Killing a character for pure shock value is absolutely not good storytelling. It's cop-out, We Can't Evoke Emotion Without Shoving Bullcrap Down Your Throat storytelling. If the writers seriously evoke this awful trope, I will sit in absolute awe and eventual frothage. Especially the part where I froth.

That said. I don't mind if Garrus dies - well no that's a lie, I would cry rivers. But if his death bumbles along in the form of actual good storytelling - for example, bringing him on a mission he's ill-suited for in terms of skill or failing to complete sidequests related to his character, then hell, bring it on. Poo-poo on me for failing him.

This goes for every character, really. For the most part, the last two games have given us reasonable control over who lives and who dies - if they suddenly begin targeting characters for their relationship to Shepard as opposed to plot circumstances, I will not be happy. In fact, I might even froth.

They could just stop resurrecting team members in combat. That would make the game more interesting.

I figure Mordin and Thane bite it. Everyone else is up in the air and I'm hoping dependent on completing their quests/choosing right options. There'd be a lot of peeps srsly hot to trot if LI's can't be saved(excepting Thane who is already dying). Plus, considering how fast word travels now, if the 'bestest best' ending includes a bunch of 'beloved' companions biting it, the backlash could be worse than what has already been seen regarding MP - oy vey.

Plus, the real world is crappy enough. Most people don't look for entertainment to depress them, especially in depressing times. Just sayin'.

If Garrus dies it should be at Shepard's hands. I want to have a one on one with him on top of a skycrapter on Palavin as the world is falling apart. A showdown to determine who is the superior asskicker.

Surely it will be like ME2 where there was a chance of people in your squad dying. They won't go out of their way to specifically kill one character as it is pointless as most people will have different rosters going into ME3 i.e VS, Me2 survival, Wrex death etc.

Shepard: "You got me pretty good back there, by the way."

Garrus: "Concussive rounds only. Needed to get you moving. If I'd wanted to do more I would have..."

Shepard: "That so..."

That's not the exact quote, but yeah... the galaxy is too small for Garrus AND Shepard to exist in it. They need to settle things.

Oh, it's a BioWare game. Somebody you like is going to die, die terribly and you won't be able to do much about it.

I predict Anderson will have a Blaze of Glory moment. meself.

That did seem rather egotistical, the start of my downward spiralling relationship with him in ME2..

Devs have confirmed that some characters are going to die no matter what and it's kind of obvious who does. I've made peace with it.

Source please??? I would be extremely pissed off if they force on us scripted deaths for LI/squadmates.

Anyone that thinks this series can end with 'rainbows and bunnies' is a child.  Of course some major characters will die.  Hell even your Shepard maybe fair game.  That's the way it was in 2 and it'll sure as hell be like that in 3.

As long as Shepard actions are going to matter i would accept death, i hate the no matter what endings/deaths for main characters
