Trying to please everybody just means everyone ends up pretty much equally annoyed. People can say what they want in their fanboyism, I know what my life's experience taught me.

You're being unreasonably pessimistic.

At the very least don't jump to the worst possible conclusion before the game is even out.

If you watched the beta and still don't think ME3 will be an awesome game, I think you're putting far too much emphasis on getting angry or being upset for the sake of it.

You don't own Mass Effect 3. Bioware does. They have complete creative control over the project and can do whatever they wish to make more money or attract new fans.

That's business. Like it or not, it's going to happen and there isn't much you can do about it.

You pretty much have to after the DA2 disaster. Of course people are pretty pessimistic about this.

Not really. DA2 was a good game that could have been a great game like its predecessor.

DA2 was one of the biggest disasters in this generation except maybe Duke Nukem for ever. Also it was Bioware lowest rated  "AAA" game of all time. You just cant try to pretend that it was no disaster.

Yes, and that's exactly the problem. The "what could have been" aftertaste. Very bitter, that.

Hyperbole much. It wasn't a disaster. If it was truly a disaster its general rating would likely be 50. Copies it sold would be hilariously low. Gameplay would make it unplayable, story terrible and it would make most of Bioware fans abandoned it.

Your 'disaster' wasn't one. DA2 was good game but due to most players being so freaking suckered into the liberally given out 9.0, 9.5 and 10 ratings anything that is lower than that by 10 is a disaster. You can say DA2 was many things but a disaster is not one of them.

I don't like the game=/=disaster.

This isn't anything against your post but when has a BSN poster not said that about any feature in the ME and Dragon age series?

Of course there always has been outlandish critcism and there always will be. Maybe it's just my sensibilities edging slightly closer towards those of the over-reactionaries, short of adopting their hysterics. ME2's small deviations got my attention, DA2's raised an eyebrow, I've become neutral towards ME3's mp, and I'll have to reserve personal opinion on this new set of modes until I get more information.

I'm certainly not advocating a static state of game design, but I really can't see clearly where these design choices are taking game franchises that clearly identify themselves as RPGs.

The game franchise is identified as a Action RPG. ME series will always cater to both sides no matter what.

Do you even know how many 50-70 scores this game got? And yes there was no real connecting Main story just 3 seperrate parts. And yes the combat system was terrible and lacked every tactical aspect. On nightmare they just made it cheap and unfair with these spawns instead of making it a tactical challenge. And thats not only my opinion but from like 90 of true RPG players. And yes i truly bweleive that EA bought some 10 scroes becasue its would be not the first time a developer or publisher would have done this. And here its more than clear that they for example bought the PC gamer UK review.

DA2 and this cleary shows the direction this company is going. And if you cant see this then you are rather naiv. And again it would be no problem if they would not pretend to still makeing RPGs becasue thats not what they are doing anymore.

I don't mind this really. Story mode to me sounds like something I might end up using as I tire of combat very quickly. Action makes zero sense to me, but I suppose if you wanted the story to be incredibly cinematic, or just wanted to vent stress then it too is admirable. Basically the game can be whatever you want it to be. However although the linear and labyrinthine narrative structures have the potential to be equally impressive, because Mass Effect's strength has always been in player agency, anyone choosing action mode will inevitably have a far less satisfying experience.

Ultimately though, I can't find a legitimate reason to oppose it, the premise seems entirely reasonable. One change which I think would make everyone feel slightly better is if the "RPG" mode was renamed to "Mass Effect", just to communicate it is the REAL and representative experience.

Sure, it may seem like differing opinions are a pain, but really, it would be damn boring if we all agreed on everything all the time.

That said, I wouldn't call DA2 a disaster in an of itself.

The disaster was in the fact that it wasn't as good as it could have been.

Basically I don't agree with you and I'm naive? Yep typical BSN argument.

If you don't like it then sure I can still like for what it was since I never saw it as a terrible game

Also regarding your scores 70 isn't a bad score and like I said before you like many others have been tricked into actually believing that. I've only seen on Meta critic two reviews that has given DA2 a score of 50 and that is just for the 360 version. I'm sorry but I really won't take your word for it.

Also this is the ME3 forum so there is no point in bringing this up for debate.

I for one loved DA2, it offered something different and I really enjoyed the character interactions and improved combat. Just because some people didn't like it because it wasn't what they expected doesn't make it a bad game.

Playing the devil's advocate is sometimes necessary, but it can become obnoxious (yes, I do like this word). However, in this current case I'm not in disagreement merely for the sake of conflict, but, as I said, because of what I've experienced in my life, combined with my gaming style preferences.

No you are naive becasue you cant see the direction Bioware is going even since Kotor. And yes for such a high regarded Company a 70 score is very very bad.  If you a compayn which normaly produces one great game after another regarding to scores this is a huge disaster.  And yes this is a ME forum thats why I will not tell you more becasue this game was Bioware's worst game ever created. But as I said before with this and now these leaks you can clearly see that Biowar is more and more moving away from the RPG genre or its audience.  and Bioware's long time supporters.

Also this is not the first time that developers driftig away from their long time supporter audience. for reccent cases just look at Rare and Nintendo.

I don't disagree with that at all but it is in our nature for us to disagree no matter what. Whenever someone has a strong position on something and then is presented evidence that shows that they are wrong they will do anything they can to back up their flawed perspective.

Right, I can't disagree.

But, to me and my limited info, this feels like someone wants to satisfy the hunger of a strict vegan and an exclusive meat eater by serving them a slice of Mass Effect pizza when there are still plenty of people out there who love pizza.
