Ah, you bunch of ducking hypocrites.

You tell us that Diablo is a true RPG, although it has no "dialogue wheels" in it whatsoever, and that only statistical progression and dice rolls make a game an RPG, you spend months complaining about ME2 "removing weapon and armor customization", while pointing at the the dialogue wheel and stating "Story doesn't make an RPG!".

And then, when a mode is created that removes the dialogue wheels all together and allows you to focus on weapon and armor customization, statistical progression, attribute evolution, etc, etc, you look at it and yell "Herp derp! They obviously want to cater to the shooter fans! The blasted mainstream crowd!"

You know what. I think we ought to rename "Action Mode" to "RPG Codex Mode".

But what about the RPG Mode? Well, seeing as, just earlier this week, someone asked "Since when do dialogue choices make an RPG?", I think we should rename it to "Mainstream Game Mode".

And It's most likely that everything has been linearized, so the guys who play in Action Mode (mostly newcomers) get the FULL experience no matter what.

If that were true, then there'd be no point in making the distinction in the first place.

There is a point in it. Trying to keep the "old fans".  And that's the main problem: they try to satisfy simultaneously the new fans, the old fans, the people who don't like Mass Effect, the people who don't like playing videogames, etc... And they are gonna fails, as fails anyone who tries to make something "everyone likes".

PD: Diablo is a Hacn & Slash with a few RPG aspects. RPGs are about Role Playing, not about stats.

Yes, because no one will notice that two supposedly distinct modes actually aren't.  And, BTW?  There's a video of an "Action Mode" playthrough.  Guess what?  You don't get to pick your dialogue in it, but you do in the RPG Mode ones.  But I suppose that doesn't count.

@the Wrex Thing. I am pretty sure I remmeber some from bioware saying that Wrex will be in the gamer even if he dies in Mass effect. So your choices didnt really matter in the end at all.

Provide a source, since you've already been incorrect about the RPG elements in the game, and thus I'm disinclined to believe you just because you *think* someone at Bioware made that statement. If Wrex is in the default setting, meaning you start ME 3 with no previous saves, that’s fine. It simply shows that the character was so popular that they chose to put him into the game. However if he shows up in a game that uses a save where he was killed, then we can talk.

Did you even read what I said at the begging? Everything has probably been linearized is not the same as "you can't pick anything", but "all picks are useless, because you must have full experience in the mode you are not able to pick anything".

We've already seen a hub area during the 'Fertile Female' mission and it's already been confirmed that the various planets you visit will have multipl sites across their surface under threat of Reaper assault and you pick which ones you do.

Getting the full experience is by definition impossible if there are any options at all.  Feel free to actually give a useful definition of what you consider "linearization" though.

That's that thing. This will satisfie old fans and new. Let's look back to what they did before to do that. The cut features and dulled them down when they made one mode of play.
With this multi-mode style, they just have to focus on making the bestaction rpg they can. When they try to cater to everyone else, they just give them a mode that our mode and turn things off. Action mode turns off the rpg/story part and story turns off the action/rpg part. We get the rpg we want with out fear of BW trying to dumb it down.

Ps: You do understand that Diablo fans and pc fans hold it up as an exaple of a greatrpg, right?

What? Where did you get that logic? Do you understand that they are just turning things off inthe other modes? They madea script with multiple directions in it, they just pick  a set of line to pick forthe story mode.....That does not mean they made the game itself is more linear, just that the game mode is controling the story.

Find me a direct quote from TK where he specifically states Diablo is an RPG and I'll happily tell him he's wrong, if you can.

You probably haven't read enough of his posts. That's been a core component of his arguments against games like Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2, for dropping the stat aspects found in RPGs.

wherre was I wrong with the RPG elemtens thing? I dont consider it RPG elemnts when all you can do is put on more armor. And honestly almost every shooter has RPG elements in his games. Look at COD which actually even had more RPG elements in it than ME2.

As I said I am pretty sure I heard it in some E3 interview back than. But I dont know where it was.

What I understand under RPG elements is for example the fact that stats matter in combat. or in the overall game. And I am not talking about  damage stats of weapons. Just to give you an example. Also I dont know if know but they watered down the dialogue since Ages. Origins was the only exception but since Kotor they went with the same route of good answer, bad answer and sacastic one. In Fact Kotor uses almost the same formular as ME does now. Except ME is much more combat and action oriented.

Overall uses Bioware the same  chliches and personalites since Baldurs gate.

As for the Metacritic thing. Its not really the metacritic thing its more the focus group testing which is  besides the used game market policy from gamestop the worst enemy in this Industry.

I just replayed KOTOR to the end. ME 's dialoge is much more flexible. Also, that interview you talking about said If you killed Wrex, his brother would take his place in that scene.

And based on the Second part of the demo in Sur'Kesh, it's clear that they made the dialoge better.

Oh so you don't consider Mass Effect an RPG either, which means you also don't consider Deus Ex an RPG. Hmm well how about this:

Excuse my language.

This. So ****ing this. I swear it feels like you people change ****ing goal posts whenever you feel like it just to complain about something. I remember when I was on the forums during ME2 and the ****ing and moaning about the gameplay because its to simplified and to dumbed down and it isn't a RPG anymore. Of course they were wrong.

Now you are complaining that you actually get the option to focus more on the gameplay parts and building up your characters and stats? Seriously will the ****ing ever end!?!?

You know what maybe most of you aren't the same ones who complained about ME2 gameplay but even so why complain now? RPGs aren't just about story and choices. Its also about the gameplay, building your character, upgrading weapons, sometimes loot and leveling. Its about the actual combat. The problem I see is that most people can't ever see that at all and seem to forget that RPGs are more than just story.

Bioware didn't have to gut their story so some 12 yr old can get a boner for action mode. All they had to do was implement a battle arena mode where you fight waves of enemies while leveling up your character. Instead, they chose to make the game a fixed experience for action gamers. People aren't seeing the big picture here, and Bioware's intent on blending genres. That's what this is all about. It's the prospect of more sales influencing game design.

The Bioware Defense Force needs to take a step back and look at things objectively for once, instead of slinging accusations around.

Undoubtedly the worst idea I've ever heard for a video game ever. Words cannot describe how much this has totally thrown me off buying the game.

Your remarkably understated reaction is noted. Care to elaborate on why optional modes for other people that you'll never use affect your experience?

It's a bleak prospect for the direction of the series in general. Less emphasis on solid singleplayer gameplay, more emphasis on multiplayer, kinect wagglan, gay romance and babbys first shooter modes.

I must say that if that is the Ashley Williams we'll be seeing in the game, I'm damn glad I let her die in Virmire most every time! Those retards who think it is a good idea to change the faces of characters, like they did in DA2, should be thrown in the Pit with my Urz!

What I find really annoying is how people on here pull something out of thin air to complain about.
