Vegos, just to clarify, is your objection to the modes themselves, or the idea behind the implementation of the modes? Because those are two very different things.

Well, one implies the other there, at least in one direction. Since my stance is against the modes themselves, there's no implementation I wouldn't have a problem with. And I've talked about the reasons for my stance against them before, but in a nutshell, they are "If I wanted to play a shooter I'd go play a shooter, not ask a RPG to be dumbed down for my convenience."

True, there is a correlation, but I have seen other people argue that the modes themselves aren't a big deal because they still allow the player to enjoy the traditional Mass Effect experience, they point to the direction BioWare is heading in, which disturbs them.

There should be some kind of unofficial rule set in place that if anybody uses phrases like "BioWare is trying to appeal to 12 year old COD fans." or similar drivel then your argument must automatically fail. Failed argument text would be bolded in red or something.

Well, that's exactly why those modes ARE a big deal if you ask me. In addition to their impact on the ME franchise itself of course.

Agreed. Makes defending one's position a lot harder if they have to share it with people spouting such nonsense.

What do you want?

I'd like to see an answer to this, too.

I dont even want to start with the lame characters like Vega or the new miranda like look from Ashely.

@the Wrex Thing. I  am pretty sure I remmeber some from bioware saying that Wrex will be in the gamer even if he dies in Mass effect. So your choices didnt really matter in the end at all.

I must say that if that is the Ashley Williams we'll be seeing in the game, I'm damn glad I let her die in Virmire most every time! Those retards who think it is a good idea to change the faces of characters, like they did in DA2, should be thrown in the Pit with my Urz!

Is this serious right now? Ashley's face changed?<_<

Yes her faice changed a bit and of course her hair. She looks like Miranda now.

A conscious choice on how you'd like to experience the game is fantastic! It's a great design decision
Consider this post feedback to Bioware - I think it'll only work if the differences between the modes are quite pronounced.

Action mode should really just "finish" dialogue real quick as if it was a player that took right-most choices all the time. And I'm not sure if you'd really want to have that be "center right-most" choices since those are pretty timid and diplomatic for an action type player. Sadly I couldn't find a video of the leak that showed this Action Mode.

Not sure if a drastically reduced difficulty level is enough to make Story mode worthwhile for people that really have never played a shooter (or CRPG). Ultimately you'd want Story Mode to be as lenient as a Monkey Island adventure game - in my opinion.

I'm an RPG mode type player.

I have a friend - 40 y/o married woman who is a massive sci-fi fan but never has been a gamer. I introduced her to Mass Effect because I knew she would love the universe, the characters and the lore, she even got a 360 solely for Mass Effect (and Dragon Age Origins). In all honestly, she struggles with the combat on casual (has NEVER played games before) and was really worried when she heard the difficulty on ME3 was going to be higher.

She will be over-the-moon about story mode. I'm thrilled for her if she enjoys her ME3 experience more because of it. I'll still be playing on insanity and loving that I imagine. To begrudge her story mode when it has no affect on your/my play through just seems so.... mean.

Bioware didn't have to gut their story so some 12 yr old can get a boner for action mode. All they had to do was implement a battle arena mode where you fight waves of enemies while leveling up your character. Instead, they chose to make the game a fixed experience for action gamers. People aren't seeing the big picture here, and Bioware's intent on blending genres. That's what this is all about. It's the prospect of more sales influencing game design.

The Bioware Defense Force needs to take a step back and look at things objectively for once, instead of slinging accusations around.

You're accusing the developers of dumbing down the game for people who don't want to press an extra button to select dialogue when you're the one who is complaining about having to do the very same thing at the start of the game. Select "RPG" mode once and you'll avoid all these problems you seem to be having. It's one extra screen.

I think this also speaks for itself.

Should I pull the "don't you dare judge me" card here? You know, for all the holier-than-thou attitude of yours I'm willing to bet my right hand you're not the type who puts their own desires before those of random people on the internet.

My buddy Rage GT nailed this idea in another hread. I quote:

 1) People who will play Action Mode will still complain that they cannot skip dialogues (even if auto-responding) and cutscenes altogether.

2) People who will play Story Mode will still complain that they cannot skip combat altogether. (even if it is too easy)

So you want to go back to giving those people no option whatsoever?

Yep. Let them play a different genre if that's what they want.

They have an option. Pick up a game that was developed to be an action shooter or a visual novel. Inconceivable, I know.

Only around here, dear sir, only around here. And only since I ran out of damns to give.

Do unto others and all that.

Least I know I'm no saint and I'm not trying to make myself look like one.

This is probably true. BW seems to be looking for a compromise between the kind of game they are good at making and the one they think will sell the most. But I doubt it is possible. With the COD example, I doubt anyone plays that game for a long story with character development and so on.

The difference being, I'm not telling you to leave because you have a different opinion from my own. Fact is I don't care if you end up liking the game. You hating it isn't going to impare my enjoyment. I expect some of thi crowd will leave because that happened last time, but I honestly don't care.

I am appalled at the attitude I see from some people who would rather keep out the mainstream fans(their use of the word sounding closer to 'riffraff') than allow those Mainstreamers to enjoy the game. Especailly when the modes designed to allow mainstream fans the ability to enjoy it does not impact them.

You are essentially advocating taking the ball and going home.

Thankfully it's not your ball.

Oh, puh-LEASE, again with the PR nonsense...

*eyeroll*

You know for all your pretentiousness, don't think you hold any moral high ground, you don't. You simply take a different approach in being the same kind of opinionated **** you assume me to be.
