I am wondering if Story mode and Action mode are a way to replace NG+ for people -hopefully not-. I asked Brenon (who a couple of months ago confirmed NG+ proper was still in....as did Casey to GI).....hopefully I am just being paranoid

Wasn't it mentioned somewhere that this is a very poor arguement?

Sounds awesome. Allow people who just like story to focus on story, people who like combat to focus on combat, or let people take the farmiliar aproach. I'll probably go RPG mode.

That's not my problem. I've gone out of my way enough to indulge others so far, so I'm not going to do it this time.

Whatever this is pointless. When someone simply asks you "What is the problem?" you don't want to answer. Then when you state the problem and someone responds you act as if your Freedom of Speech has been violated. No offense you are acting rather childish.

"I don't want to answer?" Then why have I answered that question?

So I'm childish because I'm teling people to quit being lazy and put some effort into finding what they want, provided it's only a few clicks away?

....oooooookay.

Bottom line is, if someone actually cares about my answer, and I tell them I have already posted that a few pages ago, they'll look it up.

The fact that you will constantly make posts about why you con't want to post (a likely simple answer) to a question instead of posting shows that you are just attempting to drag on a pointless conversation and could easily end it just by posting it. You have a **** load of posts in this thread and I am unlikely to find one with the actual answer. Hell if I do find it and ask you it you will respond in your typical fashion.

"The answer is in the thread somewhere."

Or you could stop trying to "call me out on stuff", because that drags on this pointless conversation just as much, and click a few times instead.

However, considering the post with my answer was for you in the first place...

Quit being lazy.

If it's the pizza comment. They don't charge extra to take things off of the pizza and the only pizza they make is with everything on it.

I'm not even entirely sure if that was your true answer since you also mentioned how the essence of the RPG experience is mysteriously ruined. Hell when i responded to your post you just basically stuck your head in the dirt. Even when I stopped arguing over that specifically you do some more childish **** stating "can't handle the keyboard warrior" or some stupid 13 year old **** like that.

That statement showed me that your attempts of weasling your way out of arguments was for some reason a argument itself. Honestly I've been attempting to give you a chance to not act childish and actually debate this.

I've never seen a pizza joint who only makes pizzas with everything on.

A-Fricking-Men. That's like me going asking the devs of racing sims to put an open world mode for people like me who can' t really get into car games. I just came to the conclusion that the racing sims and rts aren't just for me.

That would only work as a true example if it was easy as hell.

How difficult do you really think taking away manual choices and putting in Bioware's own choices in the game for the player to follow?

Guess what they did the same thing with ME2 by making it so Shepard picked a certain amount of things in ME1 so default shep can be played in 2.

It's an example. Use it as a metaphor to how you should look at the modes.

While I'm not against giving more options for players and customizing their play experience, I find this approach rather pointless and silly.

A video game is a game, an experience meant to be played and this particular franchise is an RPG where both dialog AND combat are part of the core experience. If your gripe is that the game has too much dialog or too much combat, then the game just isn't for you. Go play something else or go read a book if all you want is dialog.

Indeed.

What now is happening is that bioware is trying to sell their games to people who aren't normally even gamers (story mode) or to people who find some elements of core rpg gameplay such as character customization, character interaction/dialog choises and so forth too intimidating (action mode).

I understand why they're  doing so. These games are quite expensive to develop no doubt and limiting oneself to certain audience without sensible purpose is not wise from design point of view. Still at some point you have to make a choise. What kind of game you are developping. If you widen your core concept too much, you end up losing more fans than you gain. Maybe these modes really work and give everyone (rpg-fans, story-fans and action-fans) the experience they desire. Atleast i hope so.

As for myself, I love games as an entertaiment form / art form because a videogame lets me take active part instead of being a passive observer. I love games because everytime a new game is released I have to learn how to play it. Learning and exploring the uknown - the very concept of scifi novels. Thus i find it odd why someone wouldn't like to learn how to play the game. If you remove the gameplay from a videogame, it becomes something else..an interactive film or something like that.

I don't know, examples tend to be good when they're realistic, not when they're accompanied by so much handwaving it could lift the EA HQ off the ground.

And why is it that I "should" look at th emodes like that? Because it's how you look at them? Because it's how BW expect us to look at them? Because in my past life I signed an until the end of universe contract that I'll be looking at the modes that way once they come around?

Really, there's nothing, not one thing, saying I "should" be looking at them one way or the other, so I'm simply looking at them with my own eyes instead.
