From what I've heard so far in the Beta it isn't bad, but I prefer Jack's music for Mass Effect.

Together We Will Live Forever is absolutely wonderful. Dont forget we will have loads of drama and sadness in ME3.

I wonder why no title screen music has shown up on YouTube. If anyone has the leak post the title screen music.

I just can't stop replaying the Normandy takeoff sequence. Amazing music.

Same.

I've been watching it all morning. I'm fine with the orchestra, as long as there are some classic ME themes in game

I miss the 80's sci fi vibe music of the first game.

Same. I don't care how the game turns out, I just want to buy another one of those beautiful soundtracks.

I think we all can agree that ME3 is a step down.

You really think this match the combat soundtrack of ME1 and 2?

Hopefully it's a placeholder, because it sounds awfully familiar...

Not that I mind, I liked the tracks in arrival.

The music is nice, but I hope he brings back the ambient synth vibe of the first game's soundtrack.

The title music in the beta was obviously a placeholder.

Also, the combat music in that video is not Mansell's work.  I KNEW I had heard it before, and sure enough, I found it:

... It's from the Arival DLC.  Maybe it is just there as a place holder for now because Mansell is still composing the score?  Just some speculation on my part.

The soundtrack is one of the very last things that go into a game, because the composer needs to mesh the tracks well with the scenes they are in. For that to be possible, the scenes must be mostly complete, which they are obviously not.

Your kidding right?

You're.

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

I'll have to agree with some of the sentiment around here that Clint is indeed great BUT, his style up till now doesn't mesh with Mass Effect. The examples you posted above are not even Mansels best work let alone anything I'd like to hear in ME3. You should also be tarred and feathered for even hinting that anything from the DOOM OST would be something we'd like to hear in ME3.Not saying Clint can't pull this off, but he'd have to create a style that we haven't seen from him yet to REALLY pull it off. I wish Jack Wall would have stayed on with Bioware for this project.

Doom may have been a horrible movie, but the soundtrack was pretty sweet.

The point was that Clint can do action-y.

Also, he can rework old themes pretty well.

If you will all grant me a bit of hyperbole, asking a composer to match this is like asking a painter to re-do the Sistine Ceiling. I know Mansell is talented, but Jack wrote the book on how Mass Effect sounds. Period. I hate that he's gone. Mass Effect games have some of the best music I've heard in a game, and it's thanks to him.

I think Clint Mansell is not the only composer of ME3. ME2 had a lot of composers, and IIRC none of the tracks made for the DLCs were touched by Jack Wall. If Christopher Lennertz is still composing for ME3, we'll surely get some great tracks.
