They're pretty much even. I have no save with Kaidan surviving VS, but that's because I only have m!Shepards and they are all romancing Ashley.
Funny thing - I like Kaidan. The more often I'm talking to him, the more I like him. And it hurts to leave him on Virmire.

Besides that - the leaked Beta shows Ashley, not Kaidan. The game assumes you saved the of opposite gender on Virmire to keep a potential romance alive if you create a new character from scratch. And since the beta shows a male Shepard, Ashley survived Virmire. The same scene with a female Shepard should show Kaidan.

My interpretation of that scene is, Ashley is surprised to see Shepard and it seems that it's a bit of an awkward situation for her, then Shepard gives Ashley the cold shoulder imo...
And Ashley ends up feeling sad about the short reunion/cold shouldering.

You have to remember Ash did mention James in ME1 as a crush, namely as FemShep. She knows him prior and probably had a relationship with him during the times Shep died and fought against The Collectors. So she's probably just hamming it up so he doesn't know about their relationship.

It doesn't matter though...she's the one on Virmire on most of my playthroughs for a reason... ;-). Now what KAIDAN has to say...THAT I wanna find out! If he even thinks of saying something close to that...

To me the Ash's voice didn't seem 'wistful' at all, it seemed more ambivilous/slightly hostile, but like you say we'll have to wait and see how it plays out.

Pretty sure that's not the same James (I vaguely rember a post saying that the VS didn't know Vega...although that could  have been scrapped). And that doesn't sound very Ash-like.


And really,what else could she have said that eloquently stated their situation. Vega is clearly looking for more than a yes/no answer and her answer makes their reklationship a bit more off a mystery...As for her voice,nothing spiteful about that,at all. And no matter how else she could have said it,people that want to find something wrong with it WILL find something wrong with it as the OP has clearly proven.

Yeah. Mac said that Vega didn't know either of the VS before ME3.

I didn't hear spitefulness, what I heard is sadness on her part. All shepard did was say hi and then he didn't even give her a second look and gave her a cold shoulder. Shepard really couldn't give Ashley a minute or two to talk to her? I understand that the council was waiting on Shepard but you'd think that they could wait a minute or 2.

No, he couldn't give her a minute. More important things going on. But Shepard, is a look and a smile REALLY too much to ask for?  The brush off was just rude! I have faith that BioWare will fix this though.

Its the Beta. Most emotional/facial expression hadn't been done yet. That being said, Shepard looks great.

As many have already stated, the video was from the beta which has Ashley as a non-LI by default. I fully expect a loyal Shepard to be giving her a much warmer reception (assuming he's forgiven her for Horizon).

It also appears that a lot of the content has been cut. It seems to jump frames quiet a bit. EG halfway through Anderson's and Shepard's conversation was cropped quite a bit.

That is something you will all have to wait to find out on March 6th, 2012, I'm afraid.

I want the option to have a smile interrupt if we want it, and the option to just brush her off if that's what we prefer.

Everyone will want to react differently in that little scene, so why not let us react as we like?

they arent forced friendships for me, but everyone's different. I'm one of the people who in some playthroughs will want to brush her off cause it fits how that shep is feeling, and will want to acknowledge her too, as for giving her a minute or two, shep may not be in the military anymore in that scene, but you do NOT keep superiors waiting in the military (served 5yrs) so trust me on that. He could however have said sorry ash gotta talk to the admiralty board, good to see you though as he walks by.

Considering the succes of their last conversation, I think waiting might be a good idea!

^ This. It'll be interesting to see what Kaidan's reaction will be for this scene, considering that he seemed more confrontational and suspicious of Shepard than Ashley was during the VS's encounter with Shepard on Horizon.
