It could be the default version, the romanced version would probably her trying to hold herself back from hugging Shep(or something like that anyway)

Definitely seemed more sad than anything. Also that's a Shep non-import so who knows how or if it changes, especially if you romanced her. After all that was that email where she seemed genuinely affectionate and open to patching things up.

I hope to god we can slap certain deserving people. 5 across the face does wonders for teaching manners. There should be a dialogue option, "Oh Vega, you know Ms. Willaims right? I used to know a Ashley Williams too but I don't know who this is."

Aye. It was a "Shepard from scratch". The events of ME and ME2 do / did happen and so Shepard knows Ashley / Kaidan in ME3 and vice versa. However, new Shepards never had any LI in ME and ME2, so you can consider Ashley as a friend in that scene.

Guys...if you have gone through the leaked scripts then you'd know that the line "You know the Commander? I used to..." has significance in ways we would not dare to imagine!!! It will compel you to ask yourselves that who are more evil: the organic harvesting reapers or the story development team of ME3?... but all may not be lost yet... one of the official announcements of Bioware after the leak says they will try to consider the feedback of the viewers regarding their reaction to the story (leaked) and even make necessary alteration to the plot!!! So if we are united then we can put a stop to this VS trolling nonsense!!

Default Shep is a single renagade. So the dialogue shows the result of a Shep who choose the renagade dialogue for Ashley in Horizon.

Uhh. No.

Default Shep is male earthborn sole survivor soldier without an active relationship.
He's not renegade by default.

What! I thought he was spacer/ warhero/soldier who let the council die, Kill the Rachni queen, made Ashley kill Wrex, sacrificed Kaiden, killed Fist and Shiala etc.

Seems renagade to me.

Yeah, some stuff is a bit odd. I guess canon!Shepard is less idealistic and more pragmatic. Killing Rachni queen makes sense for a pragmatic. Not being able to save Wrex is the odd part. Killing Fist - could have been Wrex. Shiala - odd. Neutral imo, but yeah, some decisions are "canon".

My money says that she used to know the Shepard who existed in ME1. But she doesn't know the (wo)man we play as in ME2. As far as she's concerned, Shepard seemed to abandon the Alliance and work for terrorists, sure he had a pretty good reason for it and pretty much said 'F*ck you' to Timmy after the collector base, but Ash still doesn't know how much he's changed since then. (for mine? the answer is 'A lot'.)

Again, that's just my ten cents.

Ashley doesn't get to be spiteful, or sad or anything after the way she treated Shepard on Horizon.

Ash: Shepard! Where have you been!
Shep: Dead, Ash. I've been dead.
Ash: Why didn't you call me?!
Shep: Because I was dead. Cerberus saved me and now I'm trying to save these colo-
Ash: Cerberus is kidnapping colonists!
Shep: ...No that was the collectors.
Ash: Cerberus is the collectors!!
Shep: No they're not.
Ash: Well they might be.
Shep: ...I've had enough of this colony.

She utilises the same insane troll logic as the volus who accuses the random quarian of stealing his credit chit. She might have stolen it! Yes and Cerberus might be working with the collectors and reverse vampires in a fiendish attempt to eliminate the meal of dinner. The probability is not zero but that's not what's happening,

Gespenst: Troll logic seems to be usual these days.
Half of the guys I know follow this kind of logic. Worst of all: all of the guys deciding important stuff are prone to troll logic.

Just my rant.

Kaidan seems to be a nice guy at last. I hate the way Ash is written, she is such an unsympathetic character to me, i hope i can throw her in a deep whole in ME3, just for fun :P

@Dariustwinblade & CptData

In regards to 'default' Shepard, I don't think it was about being renegade or paragon.
I believe it had to do with having as little reference to ME1 events/NPCs as possible - for the 'ME2 is a good starting point for the new crowd.' (i.e. - if they were expendable, that choice was made)

BOT:
I agree with those who say Ashley seemed a little saddened, not spiteful.

Seems so. Ashley's facial animation wasn't done in that beta I think, therefore, it's not entirely clear if she is sad or not. I also wonder if there's a difference between a non-romanced Ashley, a romanced-but-cheated Ashley and a romanced Ashley.

If there's a difference, it won't be that big.
