Every so often during the middle of a game, the keyboard will stop responding to in-game commands. I can't Esc out, I can't move, I can't do anything. However, I can Alt+F4 out of the game and start the section over.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Info: I am using Windows 7 64-bit. Sticky Keys is off, Toggle Keys is off, Filter Keys is off.

What have you learned from the archives? I've seen a lot of the same question in the past. I do not recall ever trying to answer, and don't recall if I've read any of those prior messages or not.

So far the only suggestions that I've found involve updating the drivers (which I've tried only to be told I have the latest version installed) or mucking about with Bios settings. The latter is something I am not willing to do since I don't really want to risk my entire computer's performance due to a bug that only occurs during gameplay in DA2.

I'd be more willing to do so if I were to be able to converse with someone a little more technically proficient than myself at the time, though.

Does the mouse continue to work allowing you to point and click plus bring up menus or does everything stop responding??

I am wondering if for some reason if the game is getting put on "the back burner" so to speak by either another program popping up or maybe a screen saver interfering. If the mouse still works but only the keyboard stops then this is probably not the issue.

Hmmmm, that could be it. Thanks for the tip, I'll check that out.

I can't recall if the mouse still works. I *think* I can still see the pointer moving but it can't click on anything.
