Well, apart from those flying around with you on the Normandy all the time...which is kind of my point, that statement just sounds like there are no permanent squadmates, except for those with you on the Normandy and those would be Virmire survivor, Vega, Garrus, Tali and Liara. Everyone else has connections or ties that would hold them back from being permanent squadmates, Mordin has business with his own people, Wrex the same, Miranda still caught up with Cerebus, etc.

They may not be permanent - for example, if you abandon Palaven to the Reapers then I can't imagine Garrus sticking with you. The same situation with Thessia and Liara - there will probably be decisions that affect whether squadmembers stay with you or not.

I read "no one's permanent" PR as "anyone can die if you screw up and it may happen early/in the middle for the game and not in the end like in ME1/ME2". Fits the concept that anyone could die at any point in a war. I don't believe "no one's permanent" means there are rotating/switching squadmates and stuff like that. That would contradict the point of having a smaller squad to allow greater interaction/banter/etc.

They are your more permanent core squad. Thats what we have been told. But yeah I can picture people like Tali, Liara, and Garrus possibly dying due to your decisions. Characters like Wrex, Legion, etc I can see them possibly dying depending on what happens

Prothy is probably part of the core squad as well since we will most likely pick him/her up from Mars.

I doubt Wrex would ever spend more than an occasional mission as a squad member, what with his responsibilities on Tuchanka.

Is that why you think we'll have a Prothean squad member? Hmmmm, I actually wonder what it is?

I can't wait to import Joseph Shepard with only Jack, Zaeed and Morinth alive, I wonder how the squad will play out in that scenario.

But he would probably come as part of the CE. :wizard:

That and the fact EA leaked the info themselves lol. This is the original description for N7 CE:

The BW team admitted that 12 was probably too big a squad in ME2, but I'm not convinced they wouldn't add a couple more to the core-6 they have in place. I doubt that they'd consider 8 or 9 to be too big. So I have very little doubt that others will join on top of who you have.

I could also see others potentially leaving. Liara would make the most sense to bounce, she's got the biggest information cache in the galaxy, frankly I'm not sure why she's in the squad.

I have a strong feeling Jack will be back in the squad at some point, provided you didn't ****** her off. Zaeed and Kasumi also don't have much better to do themselves. Not sure with them though because they were DLC characters. And if Jacob and Miranda leave Cerberus, I'm sure lots of players would welcome one of them back.

Actually, we don't know if they are using the same squad mechanic as in ME1 and ME2. Maybe it's all temp squadmembers.

That would be terrible but I can see them using that kind of structure. You jump from planet to planet with pre-defined party members.

I can see Grunt coming back as well as Legion and Mordin. Mordin is basically done with the cure by ME3. Once the Female is escorted off world I see no reason not to join. Grunt isn't doing anything other than hanging out with the Krogan so again no reason not to join. and Legion got no face time, so I could see him coming back too. maybe Jack too. and then the DLC character. so that would equal about 10 squadmates, which I would be happy with. Hopefully I'm right, because I would be very happy with this squad out come.

The rest seem like they'd be doing something. I just don't see Thane, Zaeed, Kasumi, Samara, Jacob, Miranda, and Morinth joining again for some reason.

Then it would mean the squad has quadrillion members and it's not significantly smaller than in ME2 which is what they've been repeating over and over again and how a smaller squad allows them to implement more banter/interaction.

In way it makes no sense to have the same huge group like in ME2. In ME2 you were building to squad to take down the Collectors. ME3 is about uniting the galaxy and some former squad members prolly have better things to do than chill on the Normandy drinking tea and watching for Shep to save the galaxy.

I'm gonna be pissed if I can't get Miranda back in my Squad. Fu*k Tali and Liara, Tali is one of the most useless Squadmates ever on hardest difficulties. Liara is good I guess but not at the expense of a hardcore Biotic Brunette.

I'm all one for keeping squad members alive (Haven't had one game where people die in ME2) but if I need to kill crap ones off to get my favourite squad members then so be it.

The thing your not getting is that people die. That being said, do you think everyone on your ship will be with you till the end, someone or ones will die. Thus, no permanent squad mates.

There is more than likely going to be a Happy ever after ending where all the people you have fought with survive (except the unlucky person char-grilled on Virmire)

It's like Dragon Age...
They will follow you to the end.
But if you make the wrong decisions they will leave you... or just die.

You know, I've never understood this line of argument for these particular characters.

Garrus and Liara are Shepard-centricism personafied, and the most separated from all the characters from their native species. Liara is a social outcast/pariah who spent time in school or in archeology rather than spend it with people. Garrus got fed up and abandoned his duties and his species to play ball with Shepard and Cerberus(!), while openly admitting that he's a 'bad' Turian.

Between them they are two of the most Shepard-supportive characters in the franchise. They firmly and totally believe in Shepard's righteousness and 'whatever it takes' against the Reapers, and neither has ever shown xeno-nationalist tendencies (unlike Tali, or Mordin, or the Virmire survivor).
